Verdigris

A grumpy desert-dwelling Tea Beetle with a love for heat. He makes a soothing gel out of the prickly pear pads that grow from his body. His skin is covered in a layer of short, copper-coloured fur that seems to ‘tarnish’ wherever the cacti grow; however, these are patina-coloured markings rather than true oxidised metal. His wings are far too large to fit in his backpack but, like a ladybug, they wrinkle and retract under the shell when not in use. It does take him a second or two to prepare for flight, but once his wings are fully extended he’s good to go!
