Nevertheless, a safe distance is very important to her. As soon as someone breaks her safe distance, she will back up, start to get nervous and to babble nonsense. Apart from that, with her quirky nature, Gretel is a particularly positive and easily satisfied character.
Story
Gretel first saw the daylight a few hundred years ago. Somewhat clumsy, but always eager, the young plastic doll stumbled through life until she found a wooden lady who never left her house. She was extremely kind and took Gretel into her home, where the girl was taught to read and write. Despite her special eyes, she had never had difficulty seeing, on the contrary - she saw more than any other doll. She noticed this when every word she focused on while learning to read would light up in her mind's eye. If a word appeared frequently in a text, Gretel would notice it as frequently. The nice lady called it "a kind of search function". And it wasn't just limited to words.
It was a beautiful time that the plastic doll spent with the woman. But eventually, Gretel had read all the books and counted every wooden board of the modest hut. For her first years of life, she only knew the lady, whom she had taken into her heart like a mother. Yet she wanted to see more of the big world described in the countless books. And so Gretel reluctantly told her adoptive mother that she wanted to leave and how much she would like her to come along. But the lady just slowly shook her head. She mentioned her agoraphobia and no matter how much she loved the outside world, she could not bring herself to cross the threshold. "Then I'll give you lots of reasons to leave the house! I'll travel the world, learn a lot, and show you that it's worth getting out of your shell!"

› Detecting Glimpse
Some Gemdolls like Gretel have a glas element somewhere on their body (Gretel's iris, which are filled with cherry blossoms). They allow Gemdolls to use magic.
Gretel's magic is a detecting glimpse. When concentrating, Gretel is able to see objects she is searching for highlighted, like simple words in a book, objects in a crammed chest of even specific people in a crowd.

Relationships
Neill is one of the only dolls who's near presence Gretel is comfortable with. She loves to talk to him about what's going on in the circus, but little does she know that her friend has other concerns to handle...
Jeldrik joined the circus after Gretel. She was fascinated by his unique material and appearance, but his cold and silent character scared her. It took a long time for both introverts to warm up to each other, and nowadays it's not that uncommon to see them both drinking tea and chatting together... with a safe distance, of course.
