CLOSED SPECIES
This is just a species I made based on this random OC I made. For now it's closed completely since I'm unsure how to go about it / it's still in development.
Candle demons are spirits that replicate candles. Although called demons, they usually are not evil. They got this name though the horns they usually possess.
They can do a little bit of magic, it is said that they are the spirits of blown out flames and that their souls are fragments of humans. They're known to consume materials such as paper, wood, and wax to keep themselves lit and from melting away completley.

- As of now, do not create without permission! I'd be glad to give you permission if you DM me!
- I know I don't own the concept of candle horns or anything. If you wish to make an OC with candle horns that's none of my buisness! But please don't make an OC heavily based on / inspired by the species, thank you <3
- Even though some of the rarity types say "open" the species as a whole is "closed" until further notice
HEAD TYPES
Candle demons can have two types of heads. candle heads and normal heads, both are common traits for all variants.
Candle heads are entirely a candle and usually don't have distinct hair. Although, some use their melted wax as hair. candle heads also are unable to have horns.
Normal heads are like basic human heads. These are the only head type that allows horns.
Horns come in four variants.
- Uni-horn
- Dual-horn
- Tri-horn
- Quad-horn
Each variant implies the amount of horns a candle demon has. Uni-horn is one, Dual-horns is two, etc. etc.
Horns can be placed anywhere on the head above the eyes. They can also come in a variety of heights, thicknesses, and shapes. Though height and thickness are just design elements, shape is another trait of the horns that comes with rules.
Horns have three shape traits.
- Simple
- Engraved
- Unique
Simple horns are a common trait. They are a basic candle with a smooth exterior and cylindrical shape.
Engraved horns are an uncommon trait. They take the basic shape of a cylindrical candle but can have designs on them. These designs are either protusions or engravings of the wax, so they cannot be a different color.
Unique horns are a rare trait. They are allowed to have engraved features on them. In addition to this, they can vary in shape from the average cylindrical shape.
FLAME TYPES
The flames of a candle demon can represent their mood. They usually become brighter when feeling overwhelmed by positive or negative emotions. They will dim when exhaused or sad, but will never go out. If a flame ever goes out a candle demon weakens immenseley. For common colors, it is easy to relight. But for rare-legendary colors it is extremely diffult because of the special flame they need to reignite.
Their flames are a source of energy for them. If all the flames were to extinguish on a candle demon they would die.
Flames of a candle demon can come in many colors.
- Common Colors
- Red
- Orange
- Yellow
- Rare Colors
- Green
- Blue
- Purple
- Pink
- Legendary Colors
- White
- Black
The flame across the entire demon is consistent. For example, on a dual-horn candle demon, one flame cannot be red and the other blue. This is, unless you have the multi-color trait.
There is a legendary trait that allows a flame to be multicolored or be able to change colors. Though, these flames once out can never be relit.
Candle demons are also able to conjure flame spheres. These flame spheres take a large amount of power to summon. Because of this, flame spheres are a rare trait. Although, candle demons with legendary flame colors or traits cannot conjure flame spheres.
The eye sockets of a candle demon are hollow and hold a flame sphere that serves for their sight. (Disclaimer: conjured flame spheres cannot serve as eyes)
Eyes come in three variants.
- Orb
- Lit
- Unlit
Orb eyes are a common trait, a majority of candle demons have this type of eye. A glowing orb is in place of an iris/pupil in their hollow sockets.
Lit eyes are an uncommon trait. These eyes have orbs so large that they take up the entire socket. This does not mean they have any special difference in sight than orb eyes. It is similar to how some humans have blue eyes instead of the very common brown eyes.
Unlit eyes are rare, eyes are very difficult to extinguish. When eyes are unlit all that is left is their sockets and they are blind. Although, thanks to not having an orb, they can wear eyepatches. Orb eyes and lit eyes cannot wear eyepatches because it suffocates their orbs and can make their eyes unlit. Being unlit is a very unfavorable trait, especially since eyes cannot be relit.
TAIL TYPES
Candle demons can have two types of tails that come in two variations.
A common trait is having a singular tail or no tail. Meanwhile, a rare trait is having dual tails.
Tails can either be lit or unlit. There isn't much signifigance in the tails being lit, although by candle demon standards, it is much more beautiful to have a lit tail. While some are created with lit tails, unlit tails can also be lit the same way horns can be relit.
Candles come in many designs and colors, and so do candle demons. For wax-based demons, they can have the common trait of having a solid color or an uncommon trait of multiple colors for their skin.
A rare trait with wax-based demons is having objects within the wax. This includes glitter, small flowers / flower petals, and anything else.
for gel-based demons, they are only allowed to have clear skin, but an uncommon trait includes objects within the gel.
Common
The first and original candle demon was the wax demon. They are entirely wax based and the most common type.
They do not usually wear clothes, the concept of clothes is foreign to them. On top of that, when wax falls onto any type of clothing if they choose to wear some, it is nearly impossible to remove.
Rare
Over time, the glass wax candle demons also came into existence. These demons have an exterior skin made of glass. They are much more fragile than their completely wax counterparts.
Glass wax are most well known for wearing clothes because they do not have the same perdiciment as wax demons do. They enjoy wearing clothes and customizing their look.
Legendary
Similar to glass wax demons, they have an exterior skin made of glass. But instead of being made of wax, they are made of gel. They are well known for their clear interiors with unique and artistic designs within them.
Glass gel demons usually do not wear clothing because they prefer to show off their insides that usually include neat designs.
