Scratch considers her current life to have began when she was bitten by another dog that seemed almost mad, snapping at anything. She got away from him, and the bite didn't seem that deep, but it was still shocking. The next day she woke up ferociously hungry. Her family had stories passed down through generations, and when Scratch told them everything, they rushed to her grandmother. What happened next seemed like magic to Scratch, she wouldn't have sworn it was real-her bite was healed with a golden glow, and it seemed like the glow was surrounding her, when it flashed blood red, sinking into her.
Her grandmother was sure the spell had been interrupted' she had healed the bite wound itself, but Scratch had still been bitten by a zombie, and they had no way of knowing if the partial healing was enough. They ended up taking Scratch far away and abandoning her. Scratch roamed the forest, scavenging on what she could, waiting to go completely insane.
It never happened. She was still hungry, and still desired to eat only meat, but she kept her wits about her. She found she had other powers too. She could take a hit, fall down, but her body knitted itself back together, though sometimes she kept outward scars and wounds that seemed to heal slower than they should, but her core seemed undefeatable. It was if the healing magic she'd been imbued with held on to fight against the zombie infection in her.
