THE GOLDEN DRAGON - LAFANIEL

Lafaniel, the Golden Dragon, was one of Wyrl's three brothers who traveled with him across Africa. When her/his original body disintegrated, he sought the body of Gwennen and used it as his vessel. Slowly, she/he is transforming the body from inside out to match her/his old body; albeit a female version. Over time, Lafaniel's body appears more Saharan-like, mixed with Gwennen's Russian appearance.

Lafaniel is an antagonist for the first season of TSODR, orchestrating many events between Lucerano and Antonin. What were their motives?

When Lafaniel speaks, they speak with a double voice; Gwennen's voice and their original voice. The original voice was preserved by their soul.

His/her right-hand man was Jameson, half-brother of the guy that got abducted by Dr. Kerio. He was reluctant at first, but after he experienced the thrill of a kill, he came to enjoy Lafaniel's presence. Lafaniel often praised him as a "good dog." Eventually that became "good human."

Lafaniel knows Antithesis/Ashuton exists, and praises his brother for attempting to awaken Ashuton's omnipotent side. When Lafaniel finally met Antithesis, he/she spoke with great respect--not fear. Antithesis also spoke with respect. As the conversation progressed, Antithesis's words became more condescending. Eventually, he killed Lafaniel's body, sending his soul back to the in-between where purgatory lies. He dismantled all that Lafaniel built to secure his/her position in the world.

Because Dragons are capable of communicating with the dead, Lafaniel appears to Ashuton in dreams. In the dreams, he/she speaks of revenge. Over time Ashuton is able to see Lafaniel outside of dreams. They have a normal conversation, with Ashuton regretting what he did. Lafaniel shows pity and confesses that he's having fun torturing people in Purgatory (which is not the intent of Purgatory. He's not supposed to do that. He recieved that role by tricking the Warden of Purgatory).

Rin personally hates Lafaniel for killing Anweh, but forgave Lafaniel for his own sake and peace of mind; not for Lafaniel.

Lafaniel loves old work like The Divine Comedy, the very first original writings of the Bible, the Illiad, Gilgamesh, the Poetic Edda/Prose Edda, Utenzi wa Tambuka and Kebra Nagast.

the black mass leaking from parts of her/his body is the Substance. It leaks out because Gwennen's body was not ideal for holding a powerful creature. Lafaniel's soul must adjust to Gwennen's body while it is being reformed, so Substance leaks out periodically. When she/he uses a lot of power, Substance leaks at a faster rate and more profusely.
