PERSONALITY
Malaise is a very solitary and melancholy esk, one who prefers the tranquil silence of her lands as opposed to the cacophony of human activity in the bustling cities and suburbs. The bitterness of centuries of unspoken resentment has left her cold and spiteful, and she expresses this through thinly veiled threats. She's not happy about her transformation into an esk, but she sees it as a necessary evil to conquer to continue to preserve her lands. Whether or not she recalls her past life is a mystery; she never acknowledges her time before becoming an esk, any attempts to bring it up are met with a withering glare and steely silence. She has a deep respect for nature, as watching the plants within her boundary grow wild is one of the few things that still give her joy, so she is highly intolerant of those who would try to tame it.

BACKGROUND
Malaise was once passive and indifferent to what happened to the land, watching as it was transformed into many different features and purposes before it took on its final state as a private garden. Today, its significance and presence has been largely forgotten, but Malaise is still stuck within the past events that tied her to the land to begin with. For centuries, Malaise simmered in grief and anger, withdrawing herself completely from the world. She was a passive observer as she watched her boundary gradually become molded by human civilization, apathetic to what happened upon her land. She is distraught by her current form as an esk, and deeply resents her creator, X, for transforming her. She cannot erase the feeling inside her that she has lost part of herself, and this emptiness only causes her unhappiness to fester further.
