Personality

Iocane is a spitfire of a mare, snarky and fearless. While easily irritated, she is slow to truly anger. She’s trained for war, so she isn’t afraid to escalate to physical contact, knowing that she’s fully capable of taking care of herself. She does enjoy a good fight for fun, but prefers to not escalate to serious injury of death. Unlike some of her siblings, Iocane doesn’t take pleasure from the pain of others, although she has learned to overlook the needs of others for the sake of her own survival. She’s a reckless creature, seeking out thrills for the sake of fun. Her sense of humor is definitely present, but can be rather dark at times. Her sometimes abrasive exterior is a shield, guarding a kind soul, but that kindness has not been nurtured in her life, so it is shoved down deep beneath layers of hostility and seeming indifference toward the lives of others. She can seem to just be an inconsiderate loudmouth who cares only about herself and maybe her family, but she has a strong sense of duty and is actually interested in being part of society instead of a prickly outsider. She loves her family, especially her twin brother, despite their differences, and considers it her duty to be loyal to them. She tries not to show her kindness, and is almost ashamed of it, but it slips through sometimes. She tries to not be a bitch to others, but she's spent so long being nasty to push everyone away that she doesn't really know how to be nice - so far, the best she can manage is just being stiff and awkward.

History

 Iocane and her twin brother Vexxon (Kal) were born for war, to be used to fight the battles of humans. Since their father and older siblings had recently been lost in battle, escaping off to parts unknown, the pair was kept tightly supervised, the humans not wanting to loose the bloodline entirely. They were trained for war, something Iocane didn’t really enjoy, but she saw it as her duty, and therefore did it to the best of her ability. In time, though, she came to enjoy the thrill of a fight, although injuring others was an unpleasant necessity. And, she got to fight alongside her brother, who she loved despite their differences in personality.

But things changed before they turned three, the humans trying to pair each twin with an equine that was easier to work with. But Iocane couldn’t do her duty to her brother if she was stuck with some stranger, so she developed an abrasive attitude, refusing to work well with any horse they paired her with, antagonizing the other equines with her words until they snapped and tried to fight her. She was soon placed back with her brother, who had apparently taken to killing or injuring his assigned partners.

They stuck together for the remaining battles of their lives, always watching each others’ backs, protecting one another to the best of their abilities. But Iocane was never happy being forced to fight for the humans in some stupid, endless war, even with her brother by her side. So, when they were six years old and one of the stable hands was careless about leaving them in pasture unsupervised, she and Vexxon used the opportunity to break free, leaving the humans behind without looking back. 

They arrived in Wild Equines, managing to find Toxic (ashy), their older brother. Vexxon went to Oinaze with him while Iocane, rather put off by someone she'd just met trying to control her life, even if he was family, left to be a wanderer. She feels guilt about leaving Vexxon, especially with the news that Toxic had left. She is, at this point, unaware that Vexxon has disappeared as well.
