TREASURED POSESSIONS

- You’d like to know more about my most treasured possessions? - Sia looks excited to have a listener, especially one interested in her. - Very well! Let’s start with this - she lifts up a black & white medallion hanging around her neck. - This little thing represents our species. Dreams and nightmares. Different, yet the same. They complement each other, as none can be complete without the other. - She splits it into two pieces and shows you the dark one. - This half used to belong to my beloved. It reminds me of him and makes me feel like he’s still with me. - She puts the medallion away and lifts up a book. She holds it in her paws with excitement. Yes, it’s upside down.

- This book stores all of the events and legends that have ever occurred in our land. - She becomes a little awkward, but only for a moment. - True, I cannot read it, but it doesn’t matter, I know it all by heart. I keep the book to show pictures to the others while I tell them the stories.

- Now, why does a blind seer need a crystal ball, you ask? Well, have a look into it. Can you see anything? Of course not - she says with satisfaction and a sneer. - What the crystal ball shows is invisible to the common eye. Inside it I can see the future and the past. The alternatives. Answers. - She leans in closer and adds in a mysterious whisper - Sometimes even… the past. I rarely use it, usually when I need confirmation to my theories. - She averts her gaze from the ball, lift her chin up until her nose points at the sky. - Generally I just stare straight into the sun.
