Appearance

Braids of copper and eyes of emerald, Birdie's outward appearance is as bright as her smile. Only rarely caught without a cheeky expression, the tiny Joydancer sports a round, youthful face covered in freckles. The dress she wears is bright green and embellished flamboyantly, but upon closer inspection seems to be modified to function as armor. The crest of the Joydancers is emblazoned on both of her shirt sleeves, and she wears festival bells around her ankles that jingle softly as she walks. Her wrists and neck are all covered in jewelry set with Sapphire - a token of her Goddess, Lliira. Around her waist is a belt a few sizes too large. On the left, a festival chime hangs with a pretty ribbon, while on her right, a weathered morningstar. For some reason, it seems to have seen quite a bit of use...?

History

Background: Acolyte

Birdie began her life without a place to call home. She grew up alongside the other children in an orphanage during her earliest years.

At age 9, she drew the attention of a nomadic Joydancer; a priestess in service to the Mistress of Revels, Lliira. The mysterious traveler had been travelling through her dreary hometown and through pure happenstance, stayed the night. Birdie's joyous disposition shone in the dredges like a diamond in the rough, and her unfading optimism in spite of her hardship earned the recognition of this priestess, who spirited her away to the Temple of Joy. There, she would become a young Acolyte in service to Goddess Lliira.

Her spirit bright and her voice loud; it was only a matter of time before the Joy-bringer Lliira herself took notice of the girl. For years she watched Birdie grow, when, on her 13th birthday, The Goddess Lliira bestowed her blessing upon the young girl, granting Birdie the power to relieve others of their pain; among other mystical boons. With her magic, the Joyous one spoke to her; charging the new Joydancer with a very important mission -

"To live long and travel far, bringing Joy to the world wherever you walk it."
The Goddess cautioned her that there would be foes who sought to cause torment and woe; and that it would be her job to protect the happiness of others from this menace.

-And so, Birdie Brighteyes set out on an adventure.
