The college AU takes place in a modern world. The characters have a role within a college, be it teachers, staff or students. Ophelia is the headmaster's (Blackheart) secretary.
Ophelia and her kids, Sybil and Coralia, just arrived in the city. The rain is pouring and it's getting darker. She tries to find shelter for her and her kids and puts them down inside a bus shelter for a bit to take a break. While she tends to Coralia, Sybil thinks the puddles look fun and wanders onto the road to play with them. Lights approach and Ophelia manages to discover where her son is located just in time to throw herself into the road to save him from impact. It all happens in seconds. Car tires screech and Ophelia squeezes her eyes shut, ready for the crash. But the car manages to avoid them and almost crashes into a lamp post. A man gets out of the car and approaches them. He sees the soaking wet woman and her two cold children. So he decides they are coming with him and orders her to come with him. Ophelia, being the naive and obedient girl she is, grabs her children and follows him, thinking he is a nice man that wants to help them.
After driving in silence for a while, she thanks him for what he is doing for them. But she is coldly informed that he is not doing this for free. He will give her children, which are fast asleep in the backseat, and her a home, meals and clothes, but she will have to work for it. She will have to give something back. She replies that she will of course do whatever he wants her to. But it won't be as easy as she anticipated. He makes her his secretary at a school he works at. At home she has to be at his disposal, which is often as a punching bag. She makes a clumsy attempt at her secretary job too, but gets punished for every mistake she makes. He never touches her kids though. He just threatens to, but would never follow through.
