CAPABLE • SUPERSTITIOUS • LONELY
Once, he was a rising star of the Hunter's Guild, meteoric in his ascention upward. A formidable tracker, hunter, fighter, this kit plucked from a mountain on the very edges of society became a well-respected master in near record time, his star rising until his sudden and unexpected disappearance. Almost a decade later, he resurfaced, having apparently returned to his long-abandoned hometown. Still, he'd vanished with favors unpaid, and through some old connections, is still considered a member of the guild, if in poor standing. He is occasionally tapped for service, which he always provides.
Time in isolation has made Hamish a bit odd. While he is still capable and patient, he has also grown deeply superstitious, worried about ghosts and 'haints', and nervous to leave his mountain for too long. He has come to believe that the mountain itself is a living, thinking Goddess, stern and absolute in her judgements.
Isolation has not, however, made him cold. His door is always open- it doesn't even have locks, and the houses he's rennovated are open for whoever wishes to stay in them. Hamish adores company, and has been known to talk for hours with strangers. He's a great listener, and a better hugger. His recipe for hot cocoa is the stuff of legends.

A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To RumSum
Hamish is pulled out of requirement to stop the escape of wanted fugitive Marsa Kul. Yucca, who summoned him, tags along. After a failed attempt at diplomacy, they discover that Marsa has been Possessed. After Yucca is critically injured, he abandons the hunt to rush her to the hospital, where he happens to meet one Kabaiel. The two retire for some well-needed drinks.

Hamish visits Yucca in the hospital, and calls her out on her self-destructive tendencies. He advises she join the Hunter's Guild, to learn discepline and proper fighting technique.
Winter's Spring, December 2020
In an attempt to gauge Yucca's progress over the past few months, Hamish meets up with her at the hot springs to coach her through monster hunting. A cabu pledges its life to her. She is bitten by a baby Vandrill. Not bad, all things considered.
Breakpoint, February 2021
Now that he is becoming more active in the world again, it is perhaps time for Hamish to acquire a mount of his own. He attends the livestock show and bonds with a wooly Nyk-Nyka.

What was supposed to be a valuable teaching experience for Yucca becomes a nightmare scientific tour, usurped in their manhunt by one ratty little gremlin named Pith. Pith's disregard for the safety of her fellow curios, and complete disinterest in their mission causes tensions to rise, until finally, they are attacked by a monster, drawn in by Pith's shouting. After being rescued by Imanes- who had been stalking them through the jungle, keeping the other monsters clear from their path, they break for camp. After a tense clash between Pith and Imanes, he finds himself coaxing the nervous man back to camp. That night, they fend off yet another predator snake, after discovering Imanes' attempt to take over the whole night watch.
Along with Cirrus, they manage to track down the the fugitive they are hunting- only to be blasted by a technology far beyond what should be possible.
Our Tomorrow, May 2021
Shaken by the Death Laser, Hamish finally drags himself out of hiding, and back into the Hunter's Guild. One of the first things he finds himself doing is attending the Tonpelli Tech Fair as one of the Guild's ambassadors. The big reveal of Yan's new prosthetics struck a particular chord in him, and as the fair wound down, he sought out a bar to drown his old sorrows in.

In the wake of the Hanto Magnata Disaster, Hamish sets up in Mino Ami, taking an active role in organizing the citizens and volunteer soldiers, and occasionally interacting with the Blues on their behalf. He assists in strategy planning, both with the Blues and on behalf of Mino Ami. Despite his best efforts, however, the farmland falls. He saves who he can, but the crushing weight of failure makes for a dismal trip home- back to the mountains, disappearing from the Guild for a second time.

Winter has come, and Hamish finds himself lonely and alone again. When a young bodyguard finds himself lost on the mountains, Hamish is all too eager to take them in for the night, and gossip in the morning. As it turns out, there is an expedition underway across the mountains, and to the north. In Winter. Lead by Duke. Seeing this only as a very blunt sign from the mountain, Hamish reconnects with his old friend and guild leader, and joins the journey north.

Hamish tries some aspects of the Eisgar way of life. Always a strong man, he can pull their heavy sleds- but not for long. He can capture and ride a rejnor- but it gives him no more a feeling of completeness than riding a nyk-nykka. He finds himself unsure what to make of this, when what might be his own heritage feels so foreign.

[ Unexpected Student ] Reckless and overconfident, Hamish has come out of retirement to try and teach the girl some common sense before she kills herself.

[ Friend ] The artist who etched his bead, Hamish and Kabaiel didn't strike up an actual friendship until several years later. Visits often, and is one of the few people able to drag Hamish off his mountain for something less than obligation.

As a child, Hamish grew up in a small mountain hamlet known as 'Jarfly'. The mountain was stalked by a difficult monster known only as 'The Warbler'. Hamish meets the young hunter sent to deal with the issue, and engages in his first real monster fight. Seeing potential in the young kit, the hunter recommends Hamish join the Hunter's Guild, as soon as he is able. With his mother's pride on the line, Hamish cannot bring himself to refuse.

In Dula Dula, Hamish takes to his training- and becomes a favorite of the local kids. He experiences his first real hunt, fighting off a hungry monster eating Linny chicks with three fellow Novices.

HUNTER'S GUILD MASTER
Does Anybody Have A Map?, Collapse, Ice and Stone, Performance Review
Hamish prepares for his first self-lead excursion, a proposal to map the insides of Death Mountain and hopefully lower the number of casualties and lost finds. However, during one such mapping session, the tunnel shaft Hamish is in starts to collapse. He manages to catch a wooden beam and hold up the shaft until the rest of the group escapes one way- but his only way out is further into the mountain. With only the one lantern and no supplies, Hamish is stuck wandering the mountain, searching for an exit, and eventually, is followed by a robotic sentinel that is surprisingly, still active. He manages to use the environment to destroy the robot, and warms himself on it's overheated motherboard. After, he discovers that the robot's rampaging has also created a new exit for him. While the rest of his expedition is uneventful, and with no casualties, Hamish anticipates a poor performance review for the disaster.
