Yun Meadowrise

Yun is a soft-spoken young man who arrived to the mage enclaves recently. He tends to choose his words carefully, until he gets worked up. He prides himself on being useful, and will do anything in his power to help his community and the people in it. He can be surprisingly stubborn, especially when it comes to accepting help himself. He is beset with chronic fatigue and migraines, but does his best not to let it affect his life, often even going so far as to hide his conditions. He is somewhat easily flustered.

Yun grew up in a small village in the middle of the prairies, with two younger sisters. Around the age of eight, he started showing magic potential, specifically with regard to wind. At first, he was frustrated not to have a more cool and useful magical inclination. His parents were able to introduce him to a mentor, who was gentle and knowledgeable. His mentor had a light inclination, and often spoke of how it is necessary to respect the gods, for it is through them that magic can be used. Yun grew to respect his mentor greatly, however, he never quite outgrew the feeling that he would prefer not to be limited to his strengths.

At the age of sixteen, the Alliance scouts came through his village. They spoke grandly of the benefits mages could have to society, and promised that their teachings would free him from the shackles of the gods and his own limitations. After a bitter argument with his mentor, Yun followed the Alliance scouts to the capitol, where his life as an aether mage began.

Riakel was at first delighted to learn how to push past his limits and preform magical feats previously near impossible for him. He thought, and still does think, that the physical side effects are worth it. The people in the capitol praised his talent and usefulness, and he felt like he had found a place where he belonged.

However, as he integrated further into that society, he started to notice grave problems. Mages who couldn't master aether were cast out to return to their homelands, and as homesick as he was, he grew to fear that shameful fate. Furthermore, the professors of the Alliance had no respect for the gods. When Yun was asked to accompany a military force to suppress one of those gods, he instead packed his bags and fled.

Yun spent two weeks wandering the countryside, scared to return home and scared to encounter forces from the capitol. Finally, he was discovered by a fellow mage, and escorted to the enclave where he now lives.
