As a minotaur, Tybourn is far taller than most of the residents of Tell's Howe, and that is the first thing that usually strikes people meeting him for the first time. He is slender compared to many male minotaurs, without the exaggerated shoulder-broadening and pronounced hump that some develop, but still well-muscled, and powerfully-built compared to most humanoids. Tybourn keeps himself immaculately groomed, and his pelt is always clean and glossy and well-maintained. It is a rich cream-color, with red spotting, and somewhat uncommonly he has light hooves and skin but dark horns.

Tybourn wears two braids framing his face - a signal to other minotaurs that he is unwed, but not seeking a partner - and beyond that does not adorn his horns or hair. He wears some light armor when he is working - hoofplate, to prevent his lower legs from being trampled in a crush or riot, a shoulder guard to brace with if he should need to shoulder through a doorway, and some light armor at his hips - but beyond that relies on his excellent reflexes and thick skin to shrug off blows. Like all members of the Knight's Watch, he wears the city's colors - green, gold, and grey - and the gold dragon badge of the city.

Trivia:

• Tybourn's first name is based on Tyburn Village, an area in what is now London famous as an execution ground for criminals - in particular, traitors to the crown. He was raised under the name Albera, and changed it shortly after leaving home and coming to Tell's Howe.
• Tybourn is a freemartin - the result of a female and male calf being born as twins. Due to this, he was born as a masculinized biological female, and was raised as such until he was old enough to begin presenting publicly as male. In-universe, his name doesn't reveal this status - it's purely a real-life reference. 
• Despite the best attempts of his colleagues and friends, Tybourn is stubbornly asexual and aromantic. His sexuality is unrelated to his gender or status as a freemartin.
