Personality
Daegen is...a well trained brat from a young age. He grew up in an environment of being a prince, always feeling like he’s had a right to take the things he has for granted, and he does so with a sense of righteousness; and that also nurtured his already well-ingrained playboy nature. He’s always had and struggled with Anger Management Issues (™), betraying the trust of his father early on just because of his wretched temper tantrums, and anytime he gets any advantage over anybody it’s incredibly difficult to look eye to eye/work with anybody for him.
One of his worst traits is that he simply lacks any sense of discipline; but as for more positive aspects of his character, he has a feat that somehow manages to stir up people and get emotionally invested - and surprisingly not always in a negative way. It’s more…”get someone excited enough to join in on his mob mentality” kinda thing. Or maybe everyone that gangs up with him just like licking his rich shoes, who knows; But he’s always been uncannily good at heralding other people around just for the sake of his own laziness. If he tried, he could be a charming leader. But alas, he likes being a jerk.
Species lore
Though the Anutili is not human, there really isn’t much distinction between the two races physically (at first). In fact, they are human, except their civilization took a rather different turn and branched off from the normal human race and alienated themselves on a different star system, breeding with certain different races around and being sort of a impure mess of a race. The biggest distinction though between humans and them is that they are able to form a strong bond spiritually between these weird magical beings that disguise themselves physically as animals from their home planet, old Earth.
The beings gift them certain attributes or supernatural abilities, and in return leech off the host’s energy. Additionally, if their bond between the animal and them is strong enough over time, their form will adhere and become more akin physically to their spirit guide. The way each individual’s Anutili manifests relate to the type of person, like for example May with her tendancy of being ashamed of her selfish actions, it generally enjoys acting as a mask to help her distance herself emotionally. Or with Daegen here, it granted him sharp teeth, the young prince mostly having interest in physical affiliations in being strong, yet the two have two very different goals and desires and they are very seperate beings, the Hyena completely seperate and capable of taking actions for itself. Daegen's abilities besides the obvious physical strength is to emit a manic pack mindset on the people around him. It generally helps influence decisions when people decide whether they want to join hands with him. He doesn't have a very good control on it though...
Story
His upbringing was fairly privileged; He has 5 other siblings of whom are younger than him and despite being one of the physically shorter and smaller he still managed to have some sort of dominion over them and boss them around. He grew up being used to rough-housing with his siblings, convinced from a young age that he wanted to be someone who could fight: and that only amplified as his Hyena spirit chose him over his only sister, which would have caused the Hyena to be considerably more powerful...so, he considered himself quite the special one.
Though his family isn’t considered the absolute utmost class, the head of the house’s influence on military decisions was crucial to the government of the Anutili people. Naturally when his father finally passed on, he would be able to take place being that his family believed in primogeniture. Turns out a fairly difficult path was laid out in front of him, considering his goal from a young age was to become “king” of his species...alas, he simply just couldn’t wait for his father to die and despised the idea of taking the slow way of growing old and slowly gaining influence. His eyes were set on competing in an important position in the most brutish way possible: manslaughter.
