Ben is a tiefling swordsman and hunter, he spends his time adventuring as a member of the Brannstock guild and exploring. He’s boisterous, headstrong, and venturesome. His full name is Benjamin but folks call him Ben or Benny. He’s definitely an extrovert, believing that a stranger is “a friend in the making.” He is also a man of the people, having sworn the Brannstock oath of helping others and supporting his community. He’s a powerful physical force in the guild and they rely on him for heavy lifting and fighting. Despite his muscles and battle scars, Ben is a sweet man with his heart set on adventure and friendship. Having fun with friends and family is a day well spent in Ben’s eyes.

Ben grew up in Kinewell with his Mother (Wren Legrand) and his father (Harkford Swan). He has an older sister named Edith who went missing when she was 9 and Ben was 1. His mother is a retired but renowned warrior, and his father was an equally notable bard. Ben attended little schooling as a child (ADHD. It didn’t take) and tried an apprenticeship which he promptly abandoned. When Ben was 19 he expressed his desire to go on an adventure and freelance as a living. His parents, understanding his curious nature, agreed and sent him on his way.

Ben traveled on his own for several years in his youth, making sure to check in at home on the occasion. Around the age of 22 he fell into a questionable group of thugs which rapidly led him to a life of thievery and violence. He’s had his fair share of nights behind iron bars or in chains. Around the age of 25 Benjamin moved past this dark group he was working with, but his arrogance and foolhardiness was ever-present. When he was 27 this obnoxious behaviour of his peaked, but came crashing down during a particularly rough patch in his life. During a hunt that got out of hand, an elemental beast set fire to a village. Ben, his family, and several others worked to evacuate the village, leading to Ben’s near demise. Ben was successfully saved from the burning rubble he was trapped under, but his father also suffered injuries. After the event his father’s health declined rapidly and he died within a few months. Humbled, Ben spent time repairing the damaged village, and then traveled on to help others in need.

At age 29 Ben was recruited by the Brannstock guild, no doubt his budding reputation lending a hand in his enlistment. He has since worked his way up to a notable guild position (nothing special, but he’s close to the guild leaders) and travels with the team often. Though he’s humbled after his 20’s, Ben can still tend to be cocky and loudmouthed. Despite it all, those who’ve had the pleasure of working with him would call him a valuable and honorable friend.
