Piffin

The second daughter to a male tiefling and a female devil. Piffin was born in a cave just outside of Tesa, the town in which she grew up. When she was born, she already had an older sister Cattia, who was probably around seven, and when she was two, her parents had another daughter Virra, making Piffin the middle daughter. However, when she was around three years old, her father went missing, and her mother went to find him, effectively leaving her and her siblings alone (aged 13, 3, and 1). It was entirely unknown to Piffin or her sisters whether or not they were actually still alive, but in her eyes, they had abandoned them, and therefore Piffin couldn’t possibly care any less whether or not they were dead. She doesn’t remember much about them— not their names, and hardly their faces, but she was left with an old dagger that belonged to them. She still has it to this day.

When she was 5, Piffin’s sisters left her alone as well. Her older sister had taken the baby and left without her. Which was fine. That left her entirely alone. It’s great. They were in search of somewhere to go, while Piffin seemed to not want to go anywhere. Cattia left at night. Eventually, she began to make her ‘home’ into the back allies and what not in town, spending days wandering the streets of the city to gather and steal what she could, and spending nights in allies or on rooftops to sleep completely vulnerable to the elements. It was her job to provide for herself, and she’d be damned if she weren’t about to do as such. By the time that she was around seven years old, she’d become pretty great at managing by herself, and thought she wasn’t fast to trust, she met a half-elf rogue-hunter who she called ‘Rusty’. She’s actually not sure of what their name was. Rusty was probably around 18, and they became important to her. She sort of found refuge with them. Although they were indifferent towards her, they greatly impacted her, and sort of helped her to become a rogue— which Piffin decided was a good idea, because she was always nimble and quick of wit, so she used these talents in order to further make her way in the world. Rusty died, however, due to an accident on the job while out hunting.

After Rusty was killed and (as a result) never came back home with her, Piffin probably yoinked a bunch of their stuff, such as their weapons (Piffin’s short swords), and she ran. By this point in time, Piffin was around 12, and she finally traveled away from her hometown to a new city where she met Dexarya when she was 13. Dexarya was an adventurer— a human girl who was very friendly towards Piffin, and about a year older than her, and Piffin often found herself staying at her house when she was not figuring out how to pick up random jobs in order to gain wealth. Before long, she found herself going on adventures with or without Dex. On one of these adventures when she was 14 years old, she contracted a disease while exploring a filthy warren. Although she did recover from this disease, she was left with prematurely white hair. (A look which, if you ask her, she rocks.)

By the time that Piffin was 16, she and Dexarya began dating, and Dex was certainly the one person who she found that she could trust the most. Dexarya wound up becoming a paladin and a criminal, while Piffin found herself killing people and thieving for a living. It worked out well. And although Piff and Dex wound up breaking up after a few years, they still remain close friends, and when Piffin needs a place to stay, Dex is quick to offer up her home.
