She doesn't know it yet, but her father was a god with control over light and dark. She inherited a weaker form of his powers. They'll manifest soon enough.

Can't seem to hold down a job, or make friends, or have a stable life of any kind. Nyx feels like an outcast and is on the verge of giving up on society and becoming a hermit at this point. She just wants to be normal and doesn't understand why it never works out.

It doesn't help that some weirdo has recently started stalking her. Please stop trying to explain the plot of some YA novel to me, those prophecy-based plots are the worst.
