Chance is a small, plant-based alien from a distant planet, Oo. After crash landing on Earth some years ago and hiding in underground burrows, they emerged to wander the US.
They are genderless and their native name sounds roughly like Yeet! Their species speaks in chirps, squeaks, and squawks, however they are highly adaptive. This has given Chance the ability to learn to speak like humans do, in a way. Their voice is still very high pitched and short-winded. This ability to rapidly adapt their current characteristics has also lead to them be able to process certain Earth foods for nutrition, use Earth's atmosphere to breathe, and tolerate the heat of the planet.
They're very homesick and chew on kitchen sponges to remind themself of the foods they used to eat on their home planet.
