Adversity

Adversity is a mage from the land of Moral, the island west of Media. They are a powerful mage, having been cursed by an old magic no longer thought to exist, and it shines through during emotional outbursts. This led them to be removed from their village for the majority of their childhood, only returning upon adulthood once they were trained in controlling their temper and had a better handle over their magic. Despite all the warnings, training, and caution to not pursue it, Adversity has a quest for power, seeking out magic strong enough to alter reality, and so they began to collect artifacts with a little push from the mysterious shopkeeper, Mayhem.

This led them down a life of turmoil and destruction, as they went to malicious means to acquire their staff once they gained the small pyramid artifact from Mayhem. They destroyed anyone who challenged them after receiving the staff and decided to flee to Media once everyone they were once close with now feared them. They did not flee to Media only to escape their problems, though. Having worked as a librarian during their rehabilitation and studying the archives left by mages generations before, Adversity discovered there was an even more powerful artifact in the land of Media, one thought to be crafted from the conduit of Life itself, the former Queen of Media, Satisfaction. With Adversity's hunger for power not yet satisfied, they wanted to retrieve the magical object for themselves.

Upon entering Media in the middle of winter, a blizzard nearly took the monkey's life, having never experienced the extremities of the island's winters before. However, Adversity was saved by a friendly natural medic in the mountains who used healing methods that Adversity was used to in their village, and they stayed with her until they could enter the Unending Labyrinth, an environment that stayed warm and tropical no matter what the season. That is when they found both the Queen's Artifact and the individual who eventually became their rival, friend, enemy, so fourth, Curiosity. 

**Overcoming Adversity Spoilers**

After ups and downs with Curiosity. Seasons have passed since Adversity's first encounter with Media's last living mage under Queen Satisfaction's regime, and things have most certainly changed, as well. Adversity is ready to come back to Media after an opportunity has enabled them to enter the land again, this time with the sole purpose of retrieving what they find solely belongs to them, perhaps with a side of revenge.
