She lives in the Verge. The Verge is an unearthly, surreal place with many strange environments and pitch black monsters. People get caught in the Verge when they are close to death or in some other desperate situation (like being chased by murderers or something). When this happens they find themselves in the Verge, free of injuries. During this, time is suspended in their original dimension. There is a guide who can lead visitors to the edge of the Verge and send them back to where they came from, and the visitor is guaranteed to end up surviving through their situation. However if the visitor doesn't get to the edge of the Verge in time, they will end up dying. There can be in-bulk arrivals of people to the Verge.
