Sûl is a curious and gentle Avan-telsi.
Sûl left his flock to find something beautiful and meaningful, as part of his Second Ceremony*.
The Avan-telsi have four ceremonies:
1. Naming - young Avan-telsi are only named after a period of reflection as their names dictate their natures as they grow
2. Adulthood - completed when each of the Avan-telsi bring back something wonderful from their travels into the outside world; those that do not complete this task are not considered adults or, in a sense, individuals (children are considered part of the community rather than individuals)
3. Marriage - optional; Avan-telsi mate for life so there is no rush
4. Death - the dead are celebrated with an elaborate gifting, with each of the flock offering the deceased an item that connects the two; along with the gifts, each of the Avan-telsi are to tell a story about the meaning behind their gift to the deceased
