he's the creation of a deity, bc some Ye Olde Hero prayed and asked for aid against some evil or whatever. got woof dood and then got crowned ruler. woof dood goes dormant in between wars, only able to be summoned by the bloodline of the original hero. except one generation, one bad apple summons him but then takes the weapon and doesnt return it. enough peaceful era had passed that the story of the hero had turned to legend and was a bit warped and the bad apple twisted the story more, wiping out mention of woof at all and just that he was the Chosen One with magic weapon. and woof stings from the Betrayal, bc the bad apple lied to him when he took the weapon and then the bad apple locked him away somewhere in some mines
woof didnt use to have a large crack, but separation from the weapon which is literally a part of him caused the stress fracture. eventually wolfman breaks free, but it's been a few centuries and the kingdom has forgotten him and only reveres the weapon. so obviously woof seeks out the weapon, but also would like revenge. and even though he doesnt have any astounding powers on his own. he is basically immortal and fueled by the power of bitterness. keeps attempting to break into the castle, sometimes managing to get into the outer ring and then getting pissed when he's forced out and takes it out on the surrounding towns. everyone basically thinks he's a pissed off demon
