Nicole Vanderbilt

Nicole Abigail Vanderbilt is the 30 year old headmistress of the Vanderbilt Boarding School for Colored Girls in Washington D.C. In her universe the South won the Civil War in a bloody and surprising upset for the young and hopeful Union. Now the two countries, the CSA and the USA, are bitter frenemies with completely different values. For free blacks and Run- the main goal is to advance their community whilst trying to get friends, family and even strangers who are slaves out of the CSA however they can. Vanderbilt contributes by helping teach black girls and donating money to other free blacks and abolitionist. It's the 1930s/40s during the time period this picture would be set in and of course WWII is about to begin, but that doesn't really stop Ms. Vanderbilt's infectious happiness.
