Ciara Goldner

Ciara is a typical teen, even if her mature way of working with horses might suggest otherwise. She's still heavy in her rebellion phase, thinking that she knows everything and she knows best, and will act on that conviction without really thinking things through. She's quite stubborn once she gets something into her head, and will not give up easily, which, depending on the action can be both a good and a bad thing. At her core she's driven by good intentions, but she's lacking the maturity that refines these intentions in a proper way.

History

Ciara's family, the Goldners, had an ancestral little farm called Caravella Vale - Ciara doesn't have much memory of it, only the pictures that were left to her from her mother. Her mother and aunt grew up in Caravella Vale, and this was also where Sarah fell in love with Ciara's father, Carl. The original plan was taking over the family business, and Carl seemed to be the perfect man to stand by Sarah's side through it all. However, Sarah caught him with one of the trainers, cheating on her, so she threw him out and thought she'd be done with him for life.

However, it wasn't as simple. Not long after she broke up with Carl, Sarah discovered she was pregnant. She kept the child and gave birth to a beautiful baby girl in the January of 2003, one who wore the Goldner name and whom Sarah thought would one day, in the far future, would take over Caravella Vale.

Ciara was 6 years old when her life fell apart. Her mother was taking part in an eventing competition, which wasn't unusual, but had a terrible fall in which she died instantly. The horse, Sarah's favourite stallion, survived, but had such severe injuries he had to be put down not long after the accident. Ciara was adopted by her mother's younger sister, Jess. Caravella Vale was sold with all the horses, and Jess and Ciara moved away.

The next few years were not easy for either of them, getting used to a life together and the gaping hole that Sarah's death tore into their heart. It took some very rough times until Ciara accepted Jess as her new caretaker. The terrible accident overshadowed her happy childhood memories, and Ciara's young mind ended up deleting any and all memories of Caravella Vale. Jess wasn't into the horse business of the family, but the death of her older sister really snapped something in her, so she didn't want anything to do with horses anymore - as such, Ciara wasn't around horses in the coming years either, even though she still nurtured some hidden love for these animals, understanding that it wasn't ill will that took her mother's life.

Ciara doesn't yet know what she wants to do with her life - she loves horses, but is unsure whether Jess would let her make a whole living of that.

Queen of Hearts

A few years ago, Jess and Ciara had to move again. On the way to their new home, a black and white horse ran out onto the road in front of them, almost running into a car, and nearly causing an accident. Jess and Ciara helped round up the horse and then take her back to Lovelyta Ranch, where it turned out the gypsy vanner mare came from an unknown abusive background that made her wild and unpredictable. To contradict that, Queen of Hearts seemed quite content to be handled by Ciara. Renée offered to let Ciara visit the horse, but Jess was heavily against that, and it seemed the horse adventure came to a quick end.

However, Ciara wasn't a little child anymore, and her love for horses couldn't be suffocated anymore. She sneaked out to visit the mare and help with her recovery, something caused a huge fight when Jess got wind of it. Eventually Jess came around and allowed Ciara to be around horses as long as she wouldn't be doing anything truly dangerous, and Queen's rehabilitation took off like a rocket with the girl's help.

It was during a dressage competition that someone tried to steal the mare when no one from Lovelyta was around - Ciara discovered thanks to the ruckus made by Queen, and the culprits were quickly caught. A little investigation found that Queen was in fact a talented, famous dressage horse who was stolen by none other than Carl Droley, whom Jess also identified as Ciara's father. It was also him who mistreated the mare to the extent she became a terrified, broken thing, until Ciara nursed her back to her old self. Naturally, Carl was sentenced to prison for the theft of Queen of Hearts and various other crimes.

Affiliation with Lovelyta

Originally Ciara only came to Lovelyta to help with the rehabilitation of Queen, but the stables somewhat grew on both her and Jess, so they never quite ceased visiting the facility. Jess even got a proper job at Lovelyta, while Ciara was taken up as a rider to help with the baroque and dressage horses.
