Character

Antonio is a fidgety and active cat who likes to get stuff done. Despite the fact that he wakes up early and is extremely hard-working, he never seems to get exhausted. He is also very prideful in his state and confident in his strength. Comes off as an intimidating tough guy to outsiders, but once you get to know him, he's actually quite a softy. Antonio is also very loyal to his friends and close acquaintances, but if you get on his bad side (like Ferdinand did once), REMEMBER THE ALAMO!!!! Admin just quit. Sorry about that... *Admin rebooting success*Also, when he was younger, he was quite moody, easily angered, and preferred to be left alone.

History

I try to not relate any of my Nekotalia characters to the canon characters, but with Toni, that's really difficult, considering Texas's history with Spain, France, and America. :V Also I'm pretty sure I got most of this from Wikipedia and I wrote it like three years ago, save for the Space Race stuff...

He was first found by a shipwrecked Spain in 1528. When Spain first came over, the young Antonio grew incredibly ill and blamed him for it. While Spain was there, he observed many odd things about Antonio, like how he hunted by setting things on fire and worshiped the sun. Shortly afterwards, Spain began ignoring him and pretty much abandoned him for other, more promising, colonies. In 1685, Antonio was accidentally rediscovered by France while he was exploring the Mississippi River. France thought it would be a good idea to establish a colony there, but an angry Antonio didn't agree, and drove him out within only 4 years. Spain noticed France's growing interest in Antonio and decided to construct several missions in an attempt to intimidate France. Antonio wasn't having this either, and kicked Spain back to Mexico. When France settled Louisiana, Spain created more missionaries, and in 1718, created San Antonio. Antonio didn't like this one bit, and Spain tried to sign numerous treaties with him, but these just made him even more angry. In 1803, after purchasing Louisiana from France, America demanded to have the rights to Texas as well. Spain refused and set up a boundary between Texas and Louisiana. However, America ignored this boundary and began encroaching on Texas's territory anyways. In 1821, after the Mexican War of Independence, Antonio was taken to live in Ferdinand's house. Unhappy with his situation, he began revolting, and eventually Ferdinand cut off all contact Antonio had with the outside world. Fortunately for him, Ferdinand was having a few problems within his own country, and Antonio took advantage of his weakness, starting up the Texas Revolution. Over the next two months, he managed to win his independence from Ferdinand and became his own country: the Republic of Texas. However, this new country wasn't very strong, and eventually fell to America.

On December 29, 1845, Antonio became the 28th state admitted to the Union as a constituent state. After he joined America, Ferdinand broke diplomatic relations with America, and they argued over where the border between the two countries was. The two fought and America emerged victorious. With this victory, he invaded Mexico and ended the fighting with Antonio. During the Civil War, Antonio decided to join the newly formed Confederate States. Unlike Catalina, Antonio did contribute to many of the battles, despite being far away from most of the battlegrounds himself. After the defeat of the Confederates at the end of the Civil War, Antonio became increasingly violent and kept to himself for a while. It's not known if this was due to the defeat, or his break-up with Audrey, which happened around the same time. In 1900, Antonio struggled with his economy, until he discovered oil in January, 1901. However, his economy greatly suffered during the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl. During WWll, his economy grew even more as more war jobs were made available.

Speaking of Catalina... The two officially met during the Cold War, specifically during the USSR/USA "Space Race", with him being where NASA's mission control was, and her being where the rockets actually launched. Becoming the "Space Coast", the two showed incredible teamwork, and before long, feelings of love blossomed between them. They married at the end of the Cold War and went on to have three children. They're now the proud grandparents to sixteen grandshildren, and with a few greats now too. Toni and Cat are now happily retired together, letting their kids and grandkids run things for the most part.
