Tempest

Tempest’s pronouns are she/her and she is a manticore. She's in her early twenties, about 6'11" tall, not including horns.

Tempest is quick-tempered, but despite her massive claws and spines (or indeed, because of how easy it would be), she's slow to actual violence, being more of the type to just angrily mutter and pace, or simply cut and run rather than fight. She has a tendency to not look before she leaps, not helped by the fact that her wings are flightless. Tempest is very curious and has a deep exuberance for the world around her, always wanting to learn more about the origins of things, and she’s often just a big goofball. She does have some self-esteem issues and tends to blame herself when things go wrong, and despite her big size and big heart, she tries to make herself smaller in a crowd due to her upbringing.

Tempest was found as a cub seemingly abandoned in ancient ruins of the previous civilization of magical creatures. She was adopted and raised by a kind wild dog, but never knew where she came from or what kind of creature a manticore was. When she met Fauna, the two formed a quickly budding relationship. However, their time in Fauna's hometown of Unicorn's Thicket was cut short. Unbeknownst to everyone in town, the power of the Unicorn horn, which is the source of all nature magic, was beginning to falter. When the town's leader, Thornbeck, discovered the existence of a new magical creature, he decided the easiest solution was to kill her and obtain a new source. She and Fauna escaped, stealing the Unicorn horn and snapping off one of Thornbeck's antlers in the process. From there, they decided to travel together to try and fix the chimera's curse and find out where Tempest came from.
