Profile

Natsuhiro seems to have a special ability that he simply calls Gloom. Gloom allows him to emit and store negative emotions, and he can later pass them onto someone else if he touches them with both of his hands. It works best with sadder emotions, such as despair or loneliness, but it can store angrier emotions as well, though they're not as potent and last for far less time. Unfortunately for Natsuhiro, his ability doesn't negate the emotions' effects on himself, which means it's extremely rare to see him in a positive mood. He's not allowed to use Gloom on others to make himself feel better either even though the effects would be temporary on whoever he uses it on, unlike how he stores and retains the emotions until they're transferred or a long time has passed. Although his uncle is understanding of his situation- unlike Natsuhiro's parents were-, he still doesn't like the idea of anyone else getting hit by the depressing power, even though Natsuhiro is able to control his output and can avoid shoving multiple months worth of negativity onto someone at once. His uncle has tried to suggest finding away to just leak it out into the air, but he doesn't seem to understand that it just doesn't work like that. It's frustrating, and Natushiro has seriously considered just dumping everything onto a stranger on the street just so he can get a bit of reprieve from the state of turmoil he's constantly in. The only thing stopping him from letting it all go to someone else is the fact that he knows others might not be able to handle the sudden bout of negativity, and would absolutely a drown in guilt if his selfishness caused someone to do something damaging to themself or others.

Any time that isn't spent sleeping or doing schoolwork online is typically spent with his best and only friend, Hoshihiko. The two often tinker around in Natsuhiro's room or Hoshihiko's garage, with Natsuhiro either acting as an assistant or dismantling things on his own while Hoshihiko goes full inventor mode and makes whatever he has his mind set on that day. There's usually little input from Natsuhiro's end, never being one for conversation, but Hoshihiko talks enough for the both of them and easily fills the silence with his rambling. Natsuhiro appreciates the reprieve from the usual silence he's surrounded by, and finds himself easing up ever so slightly around the other teen. Hoshihiko was the only one who wasn't put off by Natushiro's gloomy attitude or power, and he's eternally thankful that he has at least one friend to keep him somewhat anchored. The hyperactive boy's even nice enough that he's offered to let Natsuhiro pour some of his Gloom to him, which no one else has done before. It's a sweet gesture, really, but the last thing Natsuhiro wants is to make his friend miserable, even if he says he's fine with it. After the umpteenth rejection, Hoshihiko started to devote himself to making a device that Natushiro could siphon the emotions off into, and while there hasn't been much progress made on it's development yet due to the nebulous nature of feelings, Natushiro's touched that the other's willing to spend time and resources just to make him feel better. Natsuhiro tries his best to help out with the creation of it whenever he can since sitting around while Hoshihiko tries to make something lifechanging for him makes him feel a little useless. If it weren't for the fact that Natushiro believes he'd be nothing but a burden to Hoshihiko, he'd consider possibly dating him, though he's not even sure if that's what he feels towards the teen since it's buried under the mountain of anguish he holds in his chest every day.

Back before his power fully manifested, Natsuhiro was a quiet and timid kid, one who absolutely hated confrontation and could get sick from his own nerves. And most of that stands true to this day, though 'tired' would have to be added to the list of traits. Other bits of himself from back then have been either lost or smothered though, such as his need to be physically close to those he's familiar with and his susceptibility to embarrassment. He's also become a lot more jumpy, or perhaps paranoid would be a better word. He's constantly worried about worst-case scenarios, and can get spooked by just about anything, including his own shadow. He's also far more aware of how he moves around and other peoples' proximity to him, which isn't much of a surprise now that he has to avoid getting to close to anyone out of fear of sapping their own negativity into himself. Most of his hobbies that he used to have have been snuffed out over time as well. He used to love simple and quiet activities such as coloring or doing word puzzles, but he hasn't had the motivation or need to do any of that for years now, though he still has his old coloring and puzzle books sitting in his closet should he ever wants to use them again. Really, the only hobby he has now is tinkering with Hoshihiko, but that's mostly because the other teen's always around for it. Sort of like how certain activities are only enjoyable when there's someone else doing it alongside you. The rest of Natsuhiro's free time is used for sleep or lying awake while trapped in his own head whenever his attempts at resting fail. Gloom can't torment him as much when he's unconscious, and he used to try and use head trauma to knock himself out during sleepless nights when he was a pre-teen just for the relief he'd get, though it never worked due to him being fairly weak and underestimating how much force would be needed to accomplish such a thing.
