The Hunter is a large, 8 foot predator whose primary prey consist of humans, elk, and fish. He supplements his diet with clay, earth, leaves, and berries. While he is referred to as male and is assumed to be a male, it is not exactly known if this is factual truth as no individual has been able to get close enough to him to confirm this.

His main area of residence and activity is [REDACTED]'s National Park, one of the few parks that are frequented by off-trail hikers and is known for their many disappearances. While it has become illegal to go off-trail, this does not stop people as the size of the park makes it difficult to prevent individuals from doing so.
During winter months, when park visitors are less frequent, the Hunter has been observed to move closer to roads usually travelled by lone drivers, especially preying upon those that pulled over to sleep or those that are clearly drowsy in their vehicles, often startling them into a car crash to consume them.

The hunter does not have a particular or fancy way of killing prey, often just brutalising the target and shoving whatever edible pieces he can rip out into his maw. He buries the remains under dirt, either to eat later or to cover his tracks.

His body is covered in natural armor that is made up of layered keratin, additionally he has sharp claws, teeth that regrow upon falling out, and a prehensile tail. His spines can be flattened halfway down to display a submissive stance, but they cannot lay flat and thus he is prevented from laying on his back. His long arms allow him to sprint on all fours if necessary, though he prefers to stalk prey until they are within a few leaps of range. His eyes are sensitive to light, causing him to be more active during dusk and dawn where there still may be some tired hikers around.
If one attempts to take a picture of him, his armor will show up as a bright white on the photo, similar to one of those "Anti-Paparazzi" scarves. Though catching a photo of this monster usually means that it is too late for you to escape and survive.

If an individual can manage to spot the hunter without getting spotted by him, they will first of all be incredibly lucky. Second of all, they will be able to witness how his pointed ears are capable of swiveling around completely. The fluffy protrusions from his brow do not seem to have a purpose- aside from communicating expressions and moods. But this begs the question- What else is out there that he must communicate with?

It is unknown if he is capable of human speech.
