Profile

TN-176, better known as Edmund, is a robot that acts as a guide to the summit of Mount Everest. His nickname originates from Sir Edmund Hillary, the first confirmed mountaneer to have reached the top of Everest. Hillary's climbing partner, the sherpa Tenzing Norgay, is honored in the name of line of robots Edmund comes from. He is the 176th unit from his line, the previous 175 having either malfunctioned, been recalled, or broken on the job.

Edmund, like his predecessors, was built to withstand the incredibly harsh climate on the slopes. Due to the high winds on the peak, he is much heavier than he looks to prevent him from being blown off the mountain. His chassis is hollow, allowing him to carry items like a first aid kit and oxygen tank; anything that a climber might need along the way will be stored inside his exoskeleton.

He is a lover of trivia, and often spouts off random facts to keep climbers entertained during the long expedition. He's not great at conversation, but will attempt to converse if someone begins talking to him. His AI was programmed to learn from those around him, but he is a relatively new model that still needs client exposure.
