Profile
Paladin of Amaya the water genasi
"Don't you know how special you are?"
Uvarinn was born into the Stormbane family of the Labrynth’s Eye of Efraxia as their only child. They had served as minotaur guardians of the Labyrinth and the University in the center of it for multiple generations. For many years, she served in the guard happily and proudly. Uuvarin’s mother, Nuunin Stormbane married a minotaur man of a guard and diplomat family held in high regard in the labyrinth, Irrelian Gloryspeaker.
Uvarinn was a relatively well behaved child for the majority of her life, but as she got older, became annoyed at her parents’, largely her mother’s, strict and somewhat constricitve parenting, though her father was more understanding and better at words most of the time.. She often snuck out with her friends, getting into trouble in town, but never enough to cause much collateral damage. It usually consisted of sneaking at night or leaving pranks for shop owners and officials to find in the morning. Since the town knew Uvarinn and the majority of her friends and they were fairly well known for this, it was mostly taken in slight annoyance at worst and laughter at best.
That was until a newly elected official fell victim to one of their tricks. An older halfling man, he had slipped on oil they had left in the entrance to his office and hurt himself fairly badly.
Uvarinn and her friends were punished in various ways by their families that knew each other and were able to make sure their group stayed separated. She was sent to train for the guard earlier than she was supposed to have been, an exception being made for entering age at Nuunin’s very persuasive request, helped along by her high rank in the guard. Uvarinn entered the guard at 17 and a half, rather than the common age of 19.
She despised her position at first and all but refused but thanks to a helpful and understanding mentor, she found ways to throw herself into her job and take pride in it and carry on the family legacy.
A few years into her guard, at around 20, more and more refugees from Armen Kai flooded into the mountains. In conversing with them, she became interested in the world outside the mountains that she had previously known very little of, having been stationary in Efraxia with her family for the large majority of her life. She developed an enveloping sense of wanderlust when she began to talk to students of the university and took a deep interest in magic and how it could aid her combat abilities.
Torn between her ambitions, curiosity and responsibility, she internally struggled with what to do for months. After mentioning it to her family, she was almost immediately shut down out of pride so neglected to ever mention it to them again. It still lingered in her mind however.
Later, when she had been assigned to guard the perimeter of the school for a day, she was approached by one of the teachers there, a water genasi monk named Amaya (ah-mie-uh).
They could easily see through Uuvarin, seeing she had much more potential than even she herself knew. They knew that all that held Uuvarin back was her feelings of obligation to her family and her job. They also knew that magical abilities would give Uuvarin the last edge she needed to encourage her to head out into the world and change things for the better.
Uuvarin was shocked that a being of such power would take interest in her and much less want to talk to her as she considered herself just a guard. But Amaya was insistent and Uuvarin listened. They told her that they saw something very special in her and offered her a deal. In return for her power, she would travel and make the tumultuous world outside their mountain range better in some way and resolve some of the conflict.
Uuvarin was shocked that this being saw through her and offered her a path to her deepest wish. She was even initially suspicious, but found she couldn’t be suspicious of Amaya for long, as wary as she tried to be.
She accepted the offer of power from Amaya, despite her judgment, listening to her heart instead.
Amaya happily began to teach her about the power she offered, giving her an intricate scimitar from the Water Elemental Plane, allowing her to access it. Initially, she was only allowed to use it during her training and seemed to have a natural talent for the arcane arts.
During her training, they developed a very close bond and Uuvarin adopted them as a secondary parental figure. For her, this offered her the confidence of an outside figure and the validation that her aspirations were well founded. For Amaya, they were able to further fulfill their calling of teaching and offered them a friendship outside the university.
The more Uuvarin mentioned leaving the mountains, the more her family, especially her mother was opposed to it, being the initial holder of the Stormbane name (as well as Stormbane pride). They didn’t know the arcane power she was granted, only of her skill in combat, which was considerable.
After many confrontations about being able to leave her position in the guard and her home temporarily, she decided to leave the Labyrinth during the night. Using her honed stealth skills, she kissed her parents and left the Labyrinth, leaving only a note telling them she had gone and would, when she had done what she had set out to do, come back.
When she was ready to leave, Amaya gave her the scimitar to keep. With a tearful goodbye for then, she hugged her teacher and headed off into the world.

Fun facts
Fact
She has a sketchbook that she fills with drawings of places she’s been, hoping to eventually show it to her family and tell them stories of where she’s been.
Fact
Very sex/exploration positive. She never considers perceived gender in her attraction and never though to, finding sex and relationships as fun ways to explore the interests of herself as well as another person.
Fact
Slightly naive. She wants to believe the world is better than it is and takes it too personally when this is proven false.
Fact
Very romantic. She's a kind of hopeless romantic in that she finds she can fall in love fairly easily once someone has earned her trust. She’s had various partners in her town as well as more temporary partners in towns she’s been in for longer than a few weeks.
Fact
Has a set of slightly enchanted “lucky” bone dice she uses in gambling. They were enchanted by a artificer in her town that owed her a favor and was a longtime family friend.
Fact
Very interested in good food and drink, searches it out in any town her and her party travel to and LOVES big animals.

Adventures
The Matron
One of her most important adventures started as a simple sell-sword mission. They were to take out a group of corrupt hobgoblin soldiers. As an ambush, it was an easily won victory for them. One of the hobgoblin's mounts, a dire wolf, was revealed to be a Regalia which was no longer bonded. Upon finding Uvarinn had celestial blood, she agreed to bond with the direwolf, who's name is Doug and who's past life used to be a farmer, for their mutal benefit and protection.
When they stumble upon a druid with a strange silver necklace,Uvarinn and her party are called to help a being called The Matron, a seemingly elven queen. While communicating what she needed help with, it was revealed that the Matron was in fact a tyrannical matriarch and an ancient green dragon. The citizens of her forest city were under her control via the silver collar-necklaces around their necks that would heat up and repeatedly burn the skin underneath.
After bluffing their way out of dinner, they travled and happened to find their friend Avis the dragonborn bard. They explained their current delema to him and with his assistance and information, Uvarinn and her party were able to bring down the Matron in a fast and brutal fight. Uvarinn took some of the dragon's green scales as a trophy and had them fashioned into armor for herself.
Armen Kai
Five years after she and her and her party's venture with the Matron, she joined a party travelling to the fire-scorned, uninhabitable island nation of Armen kai. Here, danger lurkedaround almsot literally every corner, even before they arrived to the island in the form of a figh with harpiea at sea.
Upon exploring the island itself, pure chaos erupted. the party ran across a masked druid who traveled with them. They traveled, fending off a werewolf horde before camping for the night, one wolf of which Scone swore to keep safe; a kobold named Moss. It did not take long to decipher this group was not there to be friends with eachother but all held immense power that may finally be enough combined to liberate the scorched island. Which they later found was being occupied by tyrannical vampire siblings.
Thr first day entailed a 'haunted building' which tested every party member that went in with something challenging fom their past. As they camped their first night, a member of the party was visited by a murder of crows able to communicate telepathically. This party member, Scone, accepted and invitation to a dinner with one of the vampire lords. The next day, they attended the dinner,at which the lord offered to change Scone into a were-raven. The dinner left off on an uncomfortable note and though the party strongly suggested he didn't, Scone accepted the lord's offer. Uvarinn however was approached by the apparenly mute druid, who then revealed himself to be the one who had set Armen Kai ablaze and who was a sore figure in the life of one of Uvarinn's past party members. Though conflicted, she did not immediatley turn him away. Later, she had a very emotionally charged conversation with Scone about his worth and that while a cleric of life, he wasn't just a vessle and instead, a whole being with value.
The next day, the party was escorted by a ghoulish carrige driver to the Feywild. There, they went off in seperate groups and found themselves in the various abodes of hags. Some party members made double edged deals while others did not. When reunited, the party ran across a mage named Ellistrae. She assisted them with finding and negotiating with another of the vampire lords,Lady Patella, the only one who resided in the Feywild. After the encounter, conflict arose about a party member's strange, eldritch sword. When Scone touched it however,he immeditaley dropped dead, life force drained. Uvarinn, scared to death, kneeled next to him until he came back to life, having had a conversation with the snake-like deity residing in Jax's sword in a dream.
That night, a cruel illusion from a celestial convinced Scone to plunge into a lava river to rescue 'Moss' who he had thought to have fallen into the river. He was healed from his nearly deadly wounds however and returned to the party with Moss in tow.
The next day, they set off to fight the matriarichal vampire lord, Lady Velladonna, the child of a tiefling and Ellistrae, they soon found. Ellistrae was also revleaved as Doug's mother. They entered the intimidating throneroom of the Lady and initated combat with her, which proved to be daunting, with many members of the party nearly meeting their demise even before a dracolich joined the fight on the side fo Velladonna. In the commotion, the lady offered Scone a deal to bring his deceased parents back and the cleric temporarily turned on his party. Luckily however, Ellistrae froze the dracolich in time as the others fought and Jax managed to get the highly magical jewlery off of the Lady and cast a successful disintegrate spell on her, destroying her in one of the only magically permanent ways.
With their main goal completed and Armen Kai free of tyrants and ready to be restored, the party went their seperate ways. Before leaving however, Uvarinn confronted Scone about his betrayal, telling him that she intented to leave alone but would be in her home if he needed her, as she'd become fond of the arrakockra who she saw as a sort of nephew or student. His actions hurt her deeper than she ever let on. She wanted nothing more than to seperate herself from the events that had taken place on the island and sailed back toward the main land, intending to head back to her home in Effraxia.
Epilouge
The venture in Armen Kai proved to be enough to cure Uvarinn's wanderlust, at least for the time being. She headed back home with Doug at her side. The two traveled north until they reached Effraxia and entered Uvarinn's home quietly.
She had an emotional reunion with her father first. She introduced him to her comapnion, Doug. Her friends surprised her outside her house, easily having seen the large woman and her direwolf compainion when coming back into town. She laughed and talked briefly, promising more answers to their enthusiastic questions later.
Uvarinn was most nervous to reunite with her mother. She headed for the Labrynth and her old post as her legs shook. When she found her mother, tensions ran high. Anyone near by stood still until Uvarinn spoke first and her mother ran forward to hug her. The reunion was cathardic for both women, though they had much to discuss later.
She rested and talked with her family and close friends into the next morning. The next day, she greeted her mentor at the Academy, who as incredibly happy and excited to see her. News of what had happened at Armen Kai had already travevled and they congratulated Uvarinn on completing her goal and mission. Later, they discussed the next step for her. They mutually came to the conclusion that she did not have much more to learn from Amaya and instead, could beccome a teacher at the university. She was for a couple years before she found a better fit for herself as a member of administration.
Uvarinn takes great pride in and is very good at her position. When needed however, she will step up to solve a difficult conflict or threat somewhere in the nations. She is sometimes given assignments that require travel or adventuring by Amaya when her wanderlust occasionally returns.
Amaya
[ Mentor ]
Uvarinn has a lot of love for Amaya. She considers them a secondary mother figure and genuinely loves, trusts and admires them. They have taught her all they know about combining her magic with her martial ability as a paladin. She is eternally grateful to them as they gave her the ability and opportunity to adventure with the promise to make the world better as it stood.
Irellian Gloryspeaker
[ Father ]
She very much loves and admires her father. His ability to speak so eloquently as such an effective negotiator and diplomat impresses her and luckily seems to have rubbed off at least partially. They have a stable, supportive relationship and hold a lot of mutual respect for eachother.
Nuunin Stormbane
[ Mother ]
Nuunin is a complicated figure in Uvarinn's life. She loves and respects her very much but growing up, they butted heads quite often. Irellian belives it's because they're so similar though Uvarinn starkly denies the sentiment. Nuunin's parenting style is fairly constrictive and controlling at times, which caused more conflict the older Uvarinn got.
