• his mother used to teach him piano when he was young, but stopped abruptly. he only knows a few tunes and maybe one scale. he learned how to swim from his dad.

• abel's parents separated before he was born. he lives with his mom but sees his dad frequently.

• he got his facial scar when he was a baby. he's not sure he believes what his mother told him about how he got it.

• he struggled with his powers his entire childhood, which made him very isolated and depressed. he never thought of what he felt as "powers", though, just that what he was dealing with was due to undiagnosed issues.

• he's learned how to regulate his empathy better and discovered new aspects to his ability since moving to town.

abel took finding out he's psychic pretty well, all circumstances considered. it felt like the first Right explaination for his feelings. he has definitely NOT brought it up with his parents, though.

• he helps ave investiagte anomalies in and around st. anselm. he's become acquainted with a few of the local entities through ave, and was glad to find they weren't nearly as bloodthirsty as the first he'd encountered.

psychic abilties

• occasionally has a vague prophetic dream that he used to brush off as deja vu or an intuition that helps him to make a good choice, but his psychic abilities are mostly empathetic.

• his main/involuntary psychic ability is feeling others' emotions second-hand. other abilities he's discovered since moving to st. anselm include pulling emotions and/or memories out of objects, seeing auras, and the ability to soothe emotional & (some) physical pain of others.
