Panora

A nomadic merperson from my comic "Yuanfen" (Yuanfen | Tapas). 

Before Yuanfen: 

Was raised by Grayson for 9 years until Panora got caught in the transfigure and stuck on our side. They spent their childhood with their friend Keenan, until they turned 15 and Keenan left. After a few days the other nomads packed up, ready to continue going forward, but Panora stayed and waited for Keenan for a few more months until deciding to travel and look for him themself. 

During Yuanfen:

They get trapped on an island that is filled with mer-hunters and has to work together with Terrence to keep merpeople safe despite their language barrier. They're still looking for Keenan throughout the story, and by the end of the series they start traveling again to find him. They still visit Terrence and Grayson when they can.

Other Facts:

They're Agender and use They/Them pronouns. They're black. They Aro/Ace. They're autistic, so I try to do as much research as I can to represent that in a respectful way, but if I say or show something wrong through my character, please tell me because I don't want to hurt anyone. The tattoo on their shoulder is my signature.

What Does Yuanfen Mean?

If you'd like to learn the original definition of Yuanfen, look here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yuanfen. In this world- the merpeople heard the word and converted it to their language- so it doesn't necessarily mean the same thing- though they are very similar. It's supposed to mean that fate brought this person to you- and that they'll be by your side no matter what. It can be romantic, platonic, familial, etc. It's basically like soulmates- but the merpeople just use a different word for it.
