Avery Templeton AKA 'Polaris'

Basic Statistics

Name: Avery Seymour Templeton, but he usually only tells people his first name if they don't already know him.

Playbook: The Scion

Abilities: magical aptitude, electrokinesis (acquired at age 16 from tampering with an experimental electronic device made with alien technology.)

Age: 19

Birthday: May 31 (He doesn't really believe in astrology but he's got some of the stereotypical Gemini traits.) 

Occupation: Superhero, university student, and a supervillain's kid.

Alignment: Not a fixed thing in the Masks system, but he's a good kid trying his best to do good things despite his complicated past.  

Hobbies/Pastimes: He enjoys fantasy literature, roleplaying, writing, video games, working on electronics and researching/communicating online. He's a first year university student with an undeclared major, trying to decide between several fields of study including engineering, medicine and English. His powers tend to complicate matters in hands on learning environments for some fields of interest. He's also quite politically inclined, but currently too scared to get into student government thanks to his background.

Gender Identity: Transgender male. Only recently has taken steps to being more open about his identity - he presented socially as male early in childhood before he even started school, and was only out to a select few friends in high school.

Sexual Orientation: He's still trying to figure that out, but if asked might simply say "definitely some kind of queer." 

Birth order: Only child.

Family: His father is a wealthy and powerful financier named Anthony S. Templeton, who also goes by "Vega." His mother Lydia died in a car accident when Avery was four. He barely remembers her, but there are a few clear and happy memories, and he remembers the night she died.

He is not close to his extended family, because his father's either pushed them away or kept them from making contact with Avery.

Who is your supervillain parent?
- Avery is the only son of a notoriously corrupt financier named Anthony Templeton, more commonly known as the supervillain 'Vega.'

Who told you about your parent's true nature?
- His nature has been increasingly clear to Avery from his observed actions and the consequences.

Why did you turn from your lineage to become a hero?
- To prove he's different and can rise above his upbringing.

Who, outside of the team, helps you on your chosen path?
- The internet in general, friends and acquaintances at school

Why do you care about the team?
- He has to prove himself somehow and is drawn to trying to make some sort of positive difference to make up for his father's actions. 

Physical Characteristics

From the "Look" choices on his sheet: man, white, slender body, expensive clothing, bright costume.

Height: 5'4"

Weight: 140-ish

Skin: Lots of freckles. Mole on his chin near his mouth. Quick to go paler or to blush, but tries his best to control it (and often fails.) 

Hair: Light brown tinted pink towards the ends, cut fairly short, slightly wavy. Very fluffy and flyaway, which is made even more noticeable because he's usually carrying around lots of static electricity. 

Ears: Pretty big and round. They stick out. Both are pierced. 

Eyes: Pale green and quite large. There are some unusual glints of extra colour - pink, aqua and yellow - that show up when he's using his powers and fade slowly afterwards. His eyes were a darker green before he acquired his powers. 

Nose: Fairly prominent, sharply angled/pointed, straight and a little upturned. 

Mouth: A bit wide, lips are on the thin side. Does he have an upper lip at all? Anything's possible 

Face shape: Squared off jaw and chin, but some fullness to his cheeks makes him look younger than he is. 

Expressions: As of now, he usually tries to control his expressions, sometimes to his own detriment. He tends to not seem very passionate when speaking, which can inadvertently give the impression that he lacks conviction.  

Describe their smile: Sometimes hesitant, sometimes seems staged. He has a warm and sincere smile that shows up with people he trusts, but currently he's not great about letting his guard down and it might still be hard for anyone seeing that smile to tell the difference between it and the more reflexive ones he pulls out for authority figures.  

Left/Right handed: Right handed for writing and drawing but he can control/cast his powers using both. 

How does he dress: As Avery, university student, he usually wears pretty standard preppy nerd clothes like v-neck sweaters, dress shirts, khakis and so on, but mixes it up with ripped jeans and hoodies and doc martens sometimes as well, seeming to switch back and forth from preppy to punk whenever he feels like it. He favours pastel colours to a degree that does get him teased or bullied on occasion. He likes to wear black nail polish but hasn't gotten the nerve to try other colours yet.

As Polaris he has a very nice pink, black and gold costume that he designed himself. He paid someone he found online to make it for him, saying it was for a cosplay. It's a lot like something a magical boy character in an anime would wear. He sourced expensive, damage-resistant materials for it.

He frequently wears trans flag & anti-fascist symbols on badges/patches on his clothes.
