Physical Description: Kali is slightly shorter than average, with an average build and weight. His eyes are bright emerald green. Overall, he is rather plain in appearance, except for his hair. His most unique feature, his hair is white with an almost opal-like quality to it, shimmering with shades of green and violet. He wears his hair long, down to his lower back.

Back Story: Kali was born in the riverside town of Longview, near the borders of the Mynyyd and Praelyth provinces. His father, Desmond, was a fisher, the choice trade in the area, and his mother tended to small projects around the town - sewing and crafting were her favorites. Even as a toddler, Kali was quiet and observant, much like a baby bird. He imprinted on those around him, learning their behaviors and mannerisms as best he could.
At only five, his father died in a tragic fishing accident - his boat was caught in an unexpected storm and was overturned. Although six fishermen were on the boat, only Desmond did not survive, and his body was never recovered. Less than a year after his death, Nora received an invitation from the House of Kohler - the governing family of Mynyyd - inviting her to take a job as the house's main servant and cook. Needing more money than her small crafts could provide and wanting a fresh start from her grief, Nora packed up Kali and their small amount of belongings, and the pair moved to Kadel, the capital city of Mynyyd.
Nora was able to make a modest living working for the Kohler family, but for Kali, adjusting to life in Kadel was difficult. As one of the wealthiest cities in all of Pridd, Kali was amongst the city's much smaller population of the poor, and this made it difficult for him to make friends. Despite his mother's relationship with the governor, Gavin Kohler, Gavin's oldest son, Schauss, had a particular dislike for Kali. Leading a band of other wealthy, well-off boys, they picked on Kali relentlessly from the time they were children and well into their teenage years.
Kali took revenge in his own way: no longer quiet and observant, his quick wit and even quicker tongue lead him to lash out with insults rather than his fists. Disliked by the rich kids due to his social status - and disliked by his fellow poorer kids for his unchecked sarcasm - Kali soon developed his deepest friendships with characters from books rather than real people. By the time he was sixteen, it was not unusual for Kali to come home bearing a black eye or bruised cheek - and a new handful of books to read himself out of reality.
Despite begging and pleading with both her son and her employer, Nora was unable to help her son in any way except encourage his love of reading and books. Saving up her earnings, Nora promised to send Kali to Cydry to attend university if he wished, studying whatever his heart desired, in an attempt to keep him happy. However, tragedy struck while Kali was sixteen, shortly before the midwinter holiday. He returned home from a day of running errands to find his house ransacked, blood splattered everywhere, and his mother dead on the floor. Kali was found hours later, in a state of grief-stricken shock, by Gavin Kohler himself.
It was then Kali learned the hidden truth about his family - that he was a descendant of Aeron Whiting, a Priddish hero that had, along with Carys Prescott, created a spell to protect the Goddess Aello from her death at the hands of a dark wizard named Allandis. In order to cast such a spell, Aeron and Carys sacrificed not only their love, but placed a curse upon their family lines - that ever should they cross, the spell would be broken and Aello would fall from Theede. Gavin - a descendant of Carys - and Nora had caused the curse to come true, and Nora had been killed to prevent she and Gavin from ever recreating the spell that had caused Allandis to be locked away in the first place.
His father had not been killed in a fishing accident, but by a follower of Allandis - and his mother had not been invited by Gavin herself, but rather by a spy that had infiltrated the Kohler home. All of this had been part of a plot to cause Aello to lose her immortality - thus leaving a place in Theede for Allandis to rise and take over.
Ongoing Story: Blinded by rage and grief, Kali makes an oath to hunt down the ones working for Allandis that created this plot - and especially for the man that killed his mother. Gavin, perhaps in an attempt to ease his guilt at his part in the whole thing, tells Schauss that he will accompany Kali on his quest for vengeance. Much to both of their protests, the two leave together to find the man - known only as Vesyth - that had taken Nora's life, and find a way to bring the Goddess Aello back to power.
Of course, with Kali, things are not quite as they seem - which he is about to find out.
