Iris' connection to the ruler of Equestria helped her very little at school. She was always the centre of attention, for better or for worse. From admiration of a princess attending school, to the cruel comments about her looks, she was watched at every step.
She steadily grew more and more anxious and upset and by her late teens she hardly left the castle.
