In Westwood’s childhood, he suffered through what could be considered a traumatic event. Because of this, he determined early in life that he would not be attached to people. Instead, he dedicated his life to research, facts, and knowledge. Well educated, and incredibly bright, Westwood lived his life on his own terms. At some point, he felt as though something were missing in his life… Whether that was the human connection he was convinced was unnecessary, or the thirst for knowledge beyond what existed in the known world, Westwood was consumed by it. Eventually, he found his chance…

His early life on the island mirrored his life pre-island very much. New world, same Westwood. His lack of empathy and care for others led him to taking advantage of another survivor, which was the first domino of many that changed Westwood’s entire life. Westwood, who once felt nothing in the face of other’s suffering, was eventually overcome with guilt and remorse. In his attempts to redeem himself, he has developed a new outlook on life… He also accidentally fell in love with the survivor he’d originally hurt. In another universe this might not end well, but somehow, in this crazy world, it led to Westwood having a love of his own…

He’s still an asshole sometimes, and knows how to use people and weaponize feelings against them, but he does so with less malice these days.
