➧ Personality

♫~ [x EVERYBODY~! PUT YOUR HANDS UP! x] ~♫

xxxxxDespite the fact that Kym, at first glance, looks like the most nonchalant, boring, apathetic piece of crap you've ever met, don't let their appearance fool you. In all honesty, behind that poker face is an extremely passionate artist who gets excited over the smallest details when things go right in the direction they want.

xxxxxIn general, their face is always in the poker-face mode because their mind is always somewhere else, but the moment someone locks eyes with Kym, they'll smile the dorkiest smile ever to exist in this world. A closed-eyes, big grin type of smile. Probably wave a little before they'd go back to their strange mind-world.

xxxxxIn essence, Kym is very absent-minded and relatively clueless about the world around them. The reason for this being that they believe that most every waking moment of their life should be dedicated to their artwork, because everything they do can be taken as something that can be translated to their canvas. Their mind is full of ideas and those ideas must be processed so they can be vaulted away for later use when in the studio. They always have a handy-dandy sketchbook on hand to doodle ideas, but if, due to their absent-minded nature, they forget it...you can find them doodling on things like napkins or something.

xxxxxWhen not in this strange zone, Kym can be quite talkative, but due to being inherently introverted by nature, it drains a lot of energy from them. If they're not the one talking, they usually get overwhelmed and has to get out and take a drink of water to keep them from passing out from the social interaction. This is mostly if it's not a conversation on a topic of interest. If someone starts a conversation with them on a topic that they can relate to or have interest in, they can usually talk for hours on end. This usually leads to Kym's agent's head being talked off more often than not. A warning: never ask them about their artwork.

xxxxxThe biggest problem with Kym would go back to the absent-mindedness. Due to their relative lack of knowledge and awareness of what's going on about them, they don't generally have a very good perception of "good" versus "bad," and generally assumes that everybody is "good." They see only the "good" in everybody and has the mindset that nobody really ever means wrong. Even if you're an obvious scammer, it'll be most likely that Kym won't notice and go along with it. Because of this, Kym is easily taken advantage of. The only good thing that comes from this is that they're also completely oblivious to insults and the like, and quite wholeheartedly takes flat-out hate on their artwork as "critique," even if it's just "it sucks and looking at it gives me a headache." In Kym-speak, that means "It seems as though the colors might be a little too bright so try toning them down." This also makes it difficult for people to ever ask about and know Kym's gender...but we'll get to that later.

xxxxxEssentially, Kym is the biggest pushover you'll ever meet.

➧ History

xxxxxKym comes from a long line of humans. This line of humans came from a wide variety of other humans that intermingled and created more humans that eventually created Kym's parents who created Kym. Kym Ashlee Thomas, the child of two regular humans with no real impact on history other than being two human beings who came together to make children. Four of them, specifically, Kym being the oldest one.

xxxxxThe Thomas family was always more artistic-oriented. Mom Thomas was a Choir director in the local elementary school, and Dad Thomas was an art gallery director. The rest of the kid Thomases went off and did their own thing. Kid Thomas 2 really got into swimming, Kid Thomas 3 discovered the beauty of the Theatre club, and Kid Thomas 4 joined the orchestra with a viola.

xxxxxKym Thomas was the only painter in the family. It started as any child really would have discovered their love for visual creativity. They were always more inclined to the arts part of class and when they won a prize in their elementary school for a piece they did, their talent and passion was basically set for life. Kym always wanted to be the painter who created pieces that people loved, pieces that people would feel like Kym themself felt the paintings. Kym could hear the colors in their mind and see the sounds they heard and translated it into paint-on-canvas. Art was, is, Kym's life.

xxxxxThey started by playing around with different canvases and even started incorporating digital aspects to their paintings, sometimes even making entire paintings digitally and somehow convincing people that they're done traditionally! After graduating from high school and getting their BFA in Illustration (they started out as a Paint major but switched over), Kym eventually went off to be a relatively well-known artist both online and in local galleries.

xxxxxNow, everything would be fine and dandy if it weren't for Kym being so gullible. Various times Kym had been cheated out of being paid for their artwork, had their artwork stolen--you name it, it's probably happened to Kym. You can probably just imagine how much of a walking ball of stress their agent is. It doesn't get any better, either, since Kym never learns from these things. The only thing that they have really considered is not bothering with the gallery business anymore and just sticking to the digital world of the art community. People are friendlier on there and it's easier to talk to people without exerting oneself too much!!...but it's also easier to go unpaid.

xxxxxWhy is life so hard?

➧ Appearance

xxxxxIt's a man! It's a woman! No, it's--what the hell are you?!

xxxxxKym Ashlee Thomas stands at about 6'03" and has a rather scraggly appearance. Pale skin with very faint freckles, long, red hair that runs down to their calves, and dark green eyes are about the only really outstanding features on Kym. Most people tend to assume that Kym is male due to their flat chest and lack of any real curves, but Kym also has a relatively neutral-sounding voice and always wears baggy clothing so nobody really knows. Also, men don't normally have hair that long, right? Either way, some people refer to Kym as "he" and others as "she" so people meeting Kym for the first time generally get remarkably confused. It doesn't help that even Kym's family refers to Kym as different pronouns.

xxxxxNot like it matters. If ever asked about their gender, Kym usually just smiles and looks confused, like a puppy hearing the sound of a squeaky ball for the first time. You won't ever get a straight answer from them--you're more or less always going to get the "Oh! I'm an artist!" followed by being given an artist business card response.

xxxxxThey usually always put together the first thing they find out of their closet and never put much thought into their clothing. Brush their hair, make sure that the clothing isn't covered in cat fur--that's essentially it. So they're usually always wearing some form of scarf, a hat, and mismatching pants and shirt. And usually boots that go up to their knees that ends up adding about 2 inches to their height. Is it hot outside? Boots are in order.

xxxxxAlso, Kym is practically blind without their glasses. But often is the time that Kym forgets them. Or forgets that they're on top of their head. Or that they're on the counter. Oops.

xxxxxOverall, Kym's the type of person you'd look at for a second, wonder what the hell they're wearing, and then move on with your day. This artist really lacks any presence and Kym relishes in the fact.
