Profile

Born in Rito Village like most of his people, Hyvan was born during a full moon which was believed in Rito culture to mean he was destined for great things in his life. While most of his childhood was normal, one thing had been instilled upon him from birth: a great pride in his great uncle, Champion Revali. His parents and grandparents passed down their own myths and tales about Revali's heroics and journey to becoming the Rito Champion. So as Hyvan grew up, he stated is own personal training, hoping to one day rescue Revali and be the next hero for his people.

When Hyvan turned 20, he thought he was strong enough and skilled enough to take on whatever lurked inside Vah Medoh and to find the truth behind what happened to his Champion. He flew himself up to Vah Medoh, equipped with just some standard armor and the trusty bow that he had modeled after Revali's own Great Eagle Bow. But no sooner did he reach the Divine Beast, its defenses activated and surrounded itself in a shield before laser beams were fired at him from the Guardian-like turrets place there. He did his best to avoid the blasts but his light armor wasn't thick enough to save his wing from getting clipped by a laser blast, sending him slowly falling all the way down to the ground.

While Hyvan landed safely enough to not die on impact, his wing was badly hurt and he did land hard enough to break a few bones. Luckily for him, the traveling Rito musician, Kass, was nearby and came rushing to him when he saw Hyvan falling through the air. Kass managed to carry Hyvan back to Rito Village where the injured bird was nursed back to health over time. Along with Hyvan's own family, Kass himself would frequently stop by to play music for him to cheer him up. And once Hyvan was fully recovered, he and Kass only got closer. The musician even helped him relearn to fly with his recently healed wing which was an experience that brought them closer than ever after a lot of falling and longing looks while picking Hyvan up from the ground.

Once Hyvan could fly again and was able to move about freely in the village, he started inviting Kass over so he could practice his cooking skills and feed the traveler in the mornings before they both had to head out. In return, Kass played music for Hyvan whenever he was over and eventually the two of them made it a regular thing to head to a nearby hill every day and play for a few hours. And while Kass couldn't cook, he did his best to try and make Hyvan a few meals (even if they would've likely caused food poisoning if consumed). After a while, they decided to move in together for "convenience" but didn't put an actual label on their relationship until Kass asked Hyvan on an official date to play some music near Mount Lanayru.

One day, Kass mentioned needing to pick up an instrument from someone in Hateno Village but not having the time to go get it himself. That gave Hyvan an idea; what if there was a system for people to give and receive packages and letters from other people in different parts of Hyrule? And with that, Hyvan's Mail Service was established and he became the mail-bird for all of Hyrule. The excitement of flying all around the land and making people's lives easier actually made Hyvan feel like he had a purpose again- if he couldn't be some grand hero for his people, then he was okay with doing something smaller that still made a lot of people happy. And his confidence was only reassured by his partner, Kass, who would always be waiting for him at home with a beautiful song for him to relax to. And after about 4 years of the two of them being nothing but happy with each other's company and constant new adventures, they decided to get married in Rito Village, much to the delight of both their families and friends.

On a usual flight route across Hyrule from Rito Village to Hateno Village, Hyvan caught sight of a lone traveler that seemed to be lost. He flew down to help and learned that the person claimed to be Lynk, who he had heard was the Hylian knight that tried to defeat Calamity Ganon a century prior. He assumed the boy was joking at first, but began to take him seriously the more he reminded him of the old stories passed through the generation of the Great Calamity. Once he had convinced himself, Hyvan offered Lynk a ride to Rito Village to save Vah Medoh, seeing it as possibly his people's last hope to reclaim the Divine Beast after so many years. Once in the village, Hyvan rushed back home and grabbed his own old set of Snowquill Armor and quickly sewed some more padding into it. He got back outside just in time to catch Lynk and gave him the armor for protection in the fight against Vah Medoh and whatever evil was inside. He headed to the top of Rito Village along with his parents and they watched the Divine Beast and cheered once Lynk made it past the shield and then they waited, patiently and quietly as they hoped Lynk could now save Revali. Once the giant beam fired out of the Divine Beast towards Calamity Ganon, they knew Lynk had succeeded and the village cheered at the spectacle they had waited 100 years to witness.

While the family waited for Lynk to return, Hyvan rushed home again to try and make Lynk a little goody-bag as thanks for all he'd done for the Rito just now, catching him just outside the city to give him the supplies. Because of Lynk, Hyvan and the rest of his family finally got a sense of closure as to what happened to Revali, giving them a feeling of peace they hadn't had in generations. Since then, both Kass and Hyvan have gladly invited Lynk to come over whenever he'd like to, always treating him to food, tea, and music whenever he shows up, even if it was just to avoid some enemies he didn't want to fight at that moment. Hyvan's begun teaching Sidon to cook the Rito way while Kass has taken up teaching the Hylian to play musical instruments that apparently unlock his memories of the past. They all enjoy their moments together, but Hyvan's favorite time has been and still is spending time alone with Kass when they can just cuddle and play music together. Hyvan also still enjoys the mail delivery service he started, though now his most frequent exchanges are letters between Lynk and Sidon that he can only assume are romantic based on their faces whenever they hand him the notes to deliver.
