Illus Valkyria is the owner of the Eye of Providence, one of the only agencies in Eorzea specializing in detective work. The Grand Companies contact the Eye of Providence when they have unsolved murders or special requests they are unable to handle. On the side, Detective Valkyria will take jobs from individuals, for a moderate price.

Illus Valkyria,  or better known as, "The Raven Valkyrie" was born and raised in Gridania. His father was always buried in ancient texts, and known wide and far as a great scholar. His mother took an aptitude to study magics known and unknown, leaving Illus plenty of time to himself. When he became of age, he developed the family habit of wanting more knowledge. Illus set off in exploration, eventually finding a hidden village far north of Gridania. Red Mages who constantly battled every day to forget their past, while Illus wanted to learn more.

Years had past, and many trials and tribulations, Illus found himself a Red Mage, along with their knowledge thought to be buried long ago. Illus wanted to test his knowledge and skill, eventually opening the Eye of Providence. To solve things others couldn't,  to learn and experience things no one else could in their life, that's what Illus wanted.

Although along the way, Illus did pick up a habit of smoking. He'll often be found with a vanilla tobacco rolled cigarette in his mouth. If you smell the sweet taste of vanilla, Illus is sure to be near by.
