About

Fletcher was previously known as "The Golden Thief". A nationally known thief who primarily targeted golden objects and other valuable items. Fletcher used to do odd jobs for clients who had these objects stolen from them and wanted them back. It's how he started his own company. He had an influx of fans not seen before for a criminal in the human world. People were concerned and actively engaged in tracking down Fletcher's identity and putting him away because they were afraid of this sudden liking for a thief.

But, the thief became missing 2 years ago after being nearly exposed by the South West's Scotland Yard. Instead, he works for them, dealing with supernatural clients that the normal police cannot deal with, and in return, not turning Fletcher in for his crimes. This was a deal that was made between Rukia and Fletcher, despite Malakai's complaints. But he puts in good work and his true past has not been revealed, nor has the fact that his magic can be made from thin air. In this world, with any sort of "supernatural" power, you are either born into a line of people who can cast it without using materials or are born with said features. Fletcher fits into this weird mold of being able to cast dangerous magic without the use of materials. It's what makes him both powerful and highly sought after for his powers.

It has been a quiet life, having several romantic relationships all go south due to feeling like his magic and job was a burden. As a result, he couldn't be around or talk about it. Only his older sister in another life, Lillianne (also known as Lilla) has been by his side. He has been staying at Lillanne's brother Blake's underground bar and sleeping there for the last 3 years. He first met Lillanne around 4 years ago after stealing something for her. She has helped Fletcher through "The Golden Thief" breakdown and has been an extremely valuable source of advice and information for him to carry on.

He is often found to not have any other people close to him. Not wanting to hurt them because of the deadly situations and people he must deal with. But he meets Larkin after chasing out an unwelcome guest in the underground bar who followed Larkin home. Something about the scientist and the situation he had gotten himself involved in intrigued the thief.

He did not only seem fascinated by the supernatural stories (assuming that scientists wouldn't believe such things), but he was also willing to help him in his job and learn the secret of his magic. Because of the threats made against him and Larkin, Fletcher offers protection to Larkin. Both he and Larkin want to figure out who is behind all of this, their motivation and who killed Sir. Attaly. Eventually, the two would work together on cases and Larkin would offer him to stay at his place instead of sleeping in the backroom of Blake's bar.

Larkin, to Fletcher, is an individual that he never thought he could find in his life. Over time, the more time Larkin spends with him, the more he can't imagine his life without him. He provides comfort and company that he hasn't found in anyone else before. In response to Larkin's curiosity, his own curiosity became more capable than ever. He wants to explore the world with him, to be able to understand everything he can about it.

Unknown Powers

Increasingly, humans have been popping up with powers that they can use from nothing at all. It seems most humans who have these powers have a "breakdown" when they lose control of themselves and the end result often results in them being killed or in captivity for the rest of their lives. As far as we know, only those between the ages of 20 and 27 are known to possess said powers. They are highly sought after for their rare powers and the lack of materials needed to use their powers. Despite the fact that people are still looking for explanations, this phenomenon remains a mystery.

Powers

Fletcher has also had his “powers” for as long as he could remember – always being quite proficient at using them compared to someone like Tobias who must tap into something that Fletcher would refer to as “corrupt” - a part of his power that would make the normal user breakdown and lose all sense of themselves. Fletcher has never had this “mental breakdown” like most “magic” users. Tobias is the only one he knows that has some sense of himself.

Fletcher's powers often reflect plants and trees. Usually, golden vines come out and can be used in different ways - they can have spikes, be strong, etc. He also can make a force-field and his powers seem to make him heal a lot faster than most when he is in the sun. For example, cuts can be fixed in a matter of minutes, and a broken bone in 3 days. He can also heal people but it’s not something he uses much due to his concern about how most people would perceive his actions as. He can only use his powers one at a time. For example, if he has a force field out, he can’t use anything else.

Personality

Fletcher is shown to be a very charismatic and happy-go-lucky character who seems to have no issues with his life. Of course, there is some truth to that, but like Larkin, he always had it hard trusting anyone else. A lot of his friendships are based on white lies and he isn't very open about his past. From his criminal past and before, it's challenging for him to see how someone else would react to that.

He loves to show off when he can. Try to ensure that everyone around him is happy and that they are okay. He's very used to interacting with children and likes to tease them with tricks to wow and amaze them, even if he is using his magic to achieve this. The energy that Fletcher always has around him makes it a lot easier for him and the children to interact with each other. In some ways, Fletcher's more childish traits make him appear unreliable to others around him. Being mischievous and hiding only increases this. It could probably throw people off because he doesn't seem as real as other adults. It seems like an outcast.

Moreover, because Fletcher doesn't truly fit into either the "human" world or the "supernatural world", he is stuck in the middle and nobody wants to take ownership of him. Fletcher often finds comfort in solitude, but he struggles with loneliness. One of the reasons why Fletcher took such a liking to Larkin is that he seems genuinely interested in him as a person.

Despite this, Larkin is striving to find a conclusion and make sense of Fletcher's abilities without malicious intent or for his own gain. This is the only time he can be fully open with someone, but that also scares him. He puts on a poker face to keep his charisma and confidence on the show so no weakness comes through.

Design Notes

  • Fletcher majorty of the times is seen with his coat on. He is more likely to take it off when he is at his home or somewhere with friends.
  • His eyes do not change colour when using magic.
  • Fletcher's shirt isn't too tight, a little loose but still clings onto his frame fairly well
  • Trousers are rolled up at the end. Showing the ankles.

Likes

  • Fletcher also plays the violin
  • Finding new ways to use his magic sneakily
  • Being in company with Larkin

Dislikes

  • Talking about his thieving past
  • Those who choose to not the save a life in front of them
  • People's lack of empathy towards other people. Those who are selfish

Trivia

  • Fletcher has grown up in England his entire life. He has no siblings and he hasn't contacted his parents in a very long time. Though, his Dad still tries to reach out.
  • Fletcher can play the violin really well - he hasn't trained in a very long time, but it's a natrual instinct to pick it up and play a tune he knows very well on it.
  • Fletcher really loves his coat. He is almost over-protective of it to an extreme extent. It's well worn and is emotionally attached to it.
  • He sleeps on Larkin's sofa, but he has to hug a pillow to sleep. He doesn't go to sleep till Larkin is sleeping and he has enabled his magic to scout the nearby area for any entities who might approach during the night.
  • Larkin will pick up on this evening routine that Fletcher does each night. He seems parnoid every night - but as he spends more time with Fletcher, he picks up that... he's really paranoid about anything. Like he's expecting something to happen.
  • People will comment on Fletcher's previous relationship with other men and woman - but to Larkin, Fletcher never really comments on anyone he sees or tries to date or flirt with anyone. It's mostly those people coming up to him.
