Profile
Sui
"The oceans are my eyes, my ears and my hands."
First queen of the Kingdom of the same name and master of the oceans!
Sui was one of the greatest magicians of all time, and she was human. Water, ice and vapor obeyed all her wishes. Thanks to her power and her charisma, she united the territories of her kingdom, gave it her own name and ruled as its first queen.
A thousand years later, she is revered like a sort of goddess, and this mermaid design is the representation people and artists make of her. Her image can often be found in public areas or in people's houses.
The red ball
In Sui's world, a red ball is a symbol of magic. As one of the greatest magicians, she is often represented with it.
Trident
Sui was known to have a trident as her favorite weapon. The royal family of the Sui Kingdom still keep her trident as a national treasure.
Nowadays, in her kingdom (and in the majority of the countries of her world), magic is considered common knowledge. However, people use it without knowing how it really works. Magic doesn't need weird formulas, tools nor potions, great magicians are those who have a strong will and make their environement obey them. But the knowledge of how magic actually works and the rules a magician must obey is reserved to a small and isolated nation far away, Suish people doesn't have access to it and made their own wrong conclusions.
Back when Sui was born, magic wasn't discovered on her continent. The latter had its territory divided between a multitude of small lords and its lands were engulfed by conflicts. This is when the tale of the four heroes begins.
Four persons discovered the existence of magic and awakened their powers, each one controlling their element, fire, wind, earth and water, and Sui was the last one. Each one of them wanted to bring peace in the continent and conquered their own territory. Then, the four new kingdoms called themselves The Alliance and signed a non aggression pact that has been more or less respected in the next thousand years. However, bringing war and colonizing other continents didn't seem to bother their principles.
Sui taught her people about magic, and she could only taught them what she was able to do, controlling water. Thus the first generation of Suish people only knew how to manipulate water, and then the belief that Suish people can only perform water related magic became stongly embedded in the popular imagination, making it true.
A thousand years after Sui's lifetime, when most of my OCs are alive, almost every Suish people can at least perform a small control over liquids, but those who are called magicians are those who acquired the appropriate education et successfully developped their powers. The tale of the four heroes is still told to the next generation, and even if they are revered as the four greatest figures of history, historians can hardly identify the truth and the lies behind the tale.
They are her direct descendants.
