Casey's Scars:
Casey had a bad home life, was neglected, and was abused mentally/verbally.
When he ran away he was living on the streets & had a really rough time.
He was offered a lot of money if he would take part in some "test trials" for some medical study.
He was tricked into being a test subject for illegal wing formation experiments.
(Illegal because only those with royal blood could be born with wings)
It went poorly and his lungs were damaged in the process. He was tossed aside in a holding cell to rot.
Eventually, the government busted the lab and he was freed and taken in as a ward until he was old enough.
