Profile

Background/Pre-campaign

Aldern was born to a world where the roots of the life tree Yggdrasil ran deep and enriched the world with magic.  His parents were elven nobles who had little time to raise a child in the face of their high falutin lifestyles.  He ended up being removed from the home one night and delivered to a pair of gnomes that raised him as their own.

He excelled greatly as a linguist, and frequently journaled a variety of subjects (as well as on some of his travels and things of import to him).  This journal was of course written in a variety of languages.

In his mid 20's, he met the fierce and independent ranger, Naule.  Though she was initially weary of the magus, the two ended up falling for each other and married, conceiving one son together.  Aldern actually made their wedding rings.  Since Naule constantly found herself falling where it counted most, he made sure they were rings of feather falling so she could be safe even in his absence.

He went missing mysteriously around the age of 35, without a trace...

Campaign

Aldern was found outside the fey wilds: an incredibly unpredictable location where people frequently went missing.  He had no memory of who he was, or where he came from, and only had the items he'd brought along before his disappearance: namely, the clothes on his back, his journal, his wedding ring, and a few pouches of trinkets, odds and ends.

He'd forgotten most of his languages as well, but managed to relearn 12 of them by the time of his demise at 37.

After one unfortunate run in, he was killed and sold his soul into servitude to the eldritch being Count Renalk in exchange for another chance at life.  In addition, the count returned some of his memories to him: memories of his world, and his family.

Shortly after his revival, he was taken down once again, by a fireball that took out all but one member of the party.  His final request to his remaining friend, Phairoh, the soul survivor, was to take his journal, his wedding ring, and a letter he'd written, find his wife Naule, and deliver the items to her so that she may find some closure.

Though dead, his soul remained and as was agreed upon, was stuck serving count Renalk, a fate which turned out to be arguably worse than death.
