HELIOS

Project Helios was the product of a mad scientist who's only goal was to create weapons for the wealthy.
In some kind of semi-modern, semi-fantasy world (think final fantasy 7 or 15), monsters of all sorts of myths and legends exist, but are either hunted to extinction or otherwise left alone far from human civilization,
The lab in which Helios was born, or created, was a huge facility focused on experimenting monsters and making controllable, super powered weapons from them.

Helios was one of many baby dragons experimented on throughout the years, born from an egg like any other, but injected with all sorts of serums and poisons moments after hatching.
Many hatch-lings would die of course, trail and error really, but Helios was "lucky" in that he survived the non stop experiments on him.

As the dragon grew with age, so too did his scale plating which had slowly developed into something stronger than flesh, something almost Metal in properties. When the dragon reached an adolescent age, the lab technicians realized what they had in their possession. Realizing the dragon would struggle to grow in essentially metal Armour cladding, they chose to further implant and enhance their new weapon. Some organs would be replaced with metal, wires and tech. His eyes were replaced with advanced camera optics and recognition software, as well as great night sight beyond what even a natural dragon could handle, all protected by a layer of glass. His horns were also sawed off and shaved down to be replaced with much stronger, forward facing artificial horns that could withstand all sorts of ramming.

However eventually the young dragon escaped, partially by his own wit and timing but also possibly helped along by someone within the lab. Helios would then go on to run and try and find his place in the world, hoping to help anyone who planned to take down cooperation's as evil as what he had experienced. All while learning just how to be a dragon.... how to be alive.
