Profile
Timeless Punishment
A sharp-tongued commander, Matunos is straight forward and stubborn in the face of the Collective's struggles. He has no time for infighting and, with his apparent immortality, is unafraid to step between other, more violent clan members to break anything up.
When he isn't focused on his own job or on helping Yasu rediscover himself, the former pirate tends to keep to himself in his room. In part, perhaps, because of his self conciousness about his curse. Unlike most members of the collective, Matunos is not inherently infected by the Shade. Rather, he is cursed by magic aligned with the Shade. He and his crew, two hundred years ago, made the mistake of going after an ancient Guardian's charge. They underestimated the measures the Guardian had gone to protect it, even after death.
Matunos finds himself deathless after the encounter, but he is constantly plagued by changes he cannot control. The only consistant change is the mouth that replaced his missing right eye.

Personality
Matunos has a tendancy to block his personal thoughts off from the rest of the world. He holds himself to a very high standard. In part due to his history and in part due to his position. He doesn't appear very outwardly secretive, and adores telling hatchlings and adults alike his tales from his days braving the Twisting Crescendo and braving terrible odds to get gold and lovers alike.
Matunos, when he does manage to be social, is usually very quiet unless he has a tale or a few bottles of rum. While he will usually shy away from outings, the promise of booze will bring out the charismatic, boistrous air-ship captian of his prime days.

The Curse
Effectively invulnerable and immortal, no wound will kill Matunos. Unfortunately, though, it still hurts like all the hells and he heals no faster than a normal dragon does. Much to the resident medic's chagrin, this leads to running headfirst into trouble when it occurs.
Battle-worn
Matunos wears his pride on his sleeve and, for all his recklessness with his immortality, he's still nothing to bat an eyelash at in hand-to-hand combat. Put a scimitar in his hand and you'd better know how to fight if you're gonna start shit around him.

Trivia
![21427.png](https://www1.flightrising.com/static/cms/familiar/art/21427.png)
Very good at playing the viola, but hasn't touched it in years. A single off-handed comment about it being unfitting killed his passion for it. He could still play one, if he ever had the chance again.
His spite at the former mentioned comment means he picked up another intrument and plays it horribly out of sheer malice. Said instument? An accordian.
If the accordian doesn't piss them off enough, he'll just casually feed food to his eye-mouth. It drives Yasu to hideous fits of giggle-snorting, so it's a win-win.
Matunos, in his 200 years, has learned to speak upwards of 20 languages, most of them he's only conversational in and some he can only write, but he's fluent in Draconic, Serthis, Maren, and Longneck.
He's pretty fussy about keeping his clothes clean and in good condition.
Despite all his language skills and age, his voice somehow still manages to crack far more than he likes.
He gets a rather exaggerated swagger to his step when he's drunk.
His hair is his weak point. He absolutely melts if you ask to play with it.

Yasu
Ever since he laid eyes on the unsure imperial, Matunos has been attracted to Yasu. But after years of comforting him, watching him fuel a rebellion, and helping him come down from almost becoming a tyrant, Matunos feels deeply for Yasu... But he can't push that kind of thing onto the new leader.
Proxy
Proxy and Matunos were formerly part of the same crew, of course Matunos has a soft spot for him. They were shocked to discover they'd both been Collected for so long in different cells without ever knowing. When Matunos is social, it's about a guarentee he and Proxy are shooting the proverbial shit.
Njord
Being trapped in such a hell hole as The Collection will push people to seek comfort in even places that maybe they shouldn't. They try to get along, really. But Matunos' obvious affection for Yasu drives a rightly terrible rift between them.
