Profile

  • Sähköteloitus
    • Discovered by a Finnish crew in Humanity's age of discovery, Sähköteloitus is a violent planet with uncomfortably frequent electrical storms, and the natural life present has adapted for the conditions that prevented any large-scale colony from forming. The few colony's present have to be careful with the weather, or risk damage.
    • Dominant Inhabitants: N/A
    • Military Influence: Minimal
  • Planetary Specifications
    • Temperature: Seasonal (Three Seasons)
      • Recharging | 15°C / 59°F - Storms are occasional, if weak
      • Primed | 30°C / 86°F - Lots of storms are done at this time, highly dangerous.
      • Depleted | 0°C / 32°F - Very calm weather, rarely any storms.
    • Day Span: 37 UniHrs
    • Cycle/Year Span: 11988 UniHrs (324 Planetary Days)
    • Gravity: 0.9 g or 8.83 m/s²
    • Terrain Threat: Extreme

The Fauna of Sähköteloitus

  • Sirpaleet Kerääjä [LINK] - 'Sirpaleet Kerääjä', or 'Shrapnel Picker', are a species of small birds found on Sähköteloitus that will eat small bugs and beetles. Their namesake comes from how they were first discovered, and how the species as a whole eat: They wait for Ukkosenjohdatin trees to get stuck by lightning, then quickly dig through the scattered bark and digging up the insects found within them with specialised claws and beaks, frequently with competition from others of their species.

The Flora of Sähköteloitus

  • 'Ukkosenjohdatin' families of tree - The common 'Ukkosenjohdatin' (Or 'Lightning Rod') family of tree are native to Sähköteloitus. Unlike most trees found in the known universe, Ukkosenjohdatin have unusually high amounts of metallic contents and flammable oils within them, along with growing almost entirely vertical, being almost always thin. While the first few generations of researchers couldn't understand why the trees evolved to have these properties, it was later hypothesised and proven that these were actually vital parts of their reproductive cycle, where they would purposefully get struck by Sähköteloitus' storms and lightning (Where they get their name), the resulting heat of a successful strike would ignite the wood itself as well as the stored oils, practically destroying the tree in the process as debris is launched everywhere. After the debris settles, the seeds left behind will sprout into saplings, and grow once again.
