Megadeath
Nicknamed Megadeath, the rider of Qachnak—the creature they ride upon—has allegedly bargained with the Devil for an incredible amount of power. It is rumoured that, in exchange for the Last Star, the Devil would grant them more power; alas, the Starchasers know that the rider of Qachnak has no intentions to hand it over.
About
For their sins, the world was punished to be plunged into a starless universe. In a world of total darkness, where the artificial Sun is powered by the masses of slaves and desperate citizens, it is prophesized that the Gods have sent the world a final chance: the Last Star, befallen and hidden amongst the living that remain. If you are willing to repent for your sins, you would use the Last Star to erect the world another Sun—if you listen to the whispers of the Devil, you'd harness God's final gift to become one with the lights in the sky, and envelop the world in darkness forever.
Megadeath is a notorious name as a Starchaser—a name given to those hunting the Last Star. It is no secret that they've bargained with the Devil for the unfathomable power they possess, and it is said that they have sacrificed thousands upon thousands to reap their supernaturality. Qachnak, the creature they ride upon, is the Devil's demon, given to them upon their pact with the Devil.
...or so the stories go.
While impassable in battle—resulting in brutal death or grevious injuries—the Qachnak rider seems to mind their own business. Though their presence is particularly eerie, the rider does not intentionally provoke violence first. They seem to pay innkeepers handsomely for privacy and a good hearty meal, and though many have vied to see their uncovered face, they seem to be very good at hiding. It is difficult to find anyone who knows anything about the Qachnak rider—much less where they are from—though those who have passed them without battle report a strange, unfathomable feeling that is neither good or bad.
It is unknown whether what the rider wants with the Last Star. The bards say that they would abandon their bargain with the Devil and use the Last Star's power for themselves, but who knows what the rider's true intentions are?
Personality
Not much is known of the rider's real personality, except for their unusual quietness. They do not seem to have much of an affinity for things nor a particular hatred for anything; however they seem to have a special attachment to their creature, Qachnak. They pass by towns quietly and is usually harmless, though it is known that their presence causes physical unease to those nearby. They are, however, needlessly brutal in battles, though does not seem to be interested in petty fights.
Appearance
The rider has olive skin, with most of their body obscured by their clothes, as well as a mask resembling Qachnak's heads. Their clothes indicate that they belong to a lost clan, said to be obliterated by the Gods for their sins.
It's not the rider you need to watch out for—it's Qachnak. The rider controls Qachnak to completely and utterly destroy their enemies, though can act independently to protect its master. Qachnak is a particularly large creature, made of four faces and dark wings; it eats the souls of those it destroys and grows stronger with each soul it swallows.
