She was born to Collateral Damage and a father she never knew the name of. The lack of another parent had never really bothered her, as she had more than enough family growing up with four other siblings to keep her company. She was born at night, under a full moon, and because of this, it was rather fitting that she was adorned with moon shaped markings. Her mother remarked upon the oddity of it all, but never gave it much thought. As Meteora grew older, she spent more and more of her time with the moon, wondering if she could discern why she had been marked in such a way. Was there a message there? Some hidden meaning? Had the moon taken possession of her? She debated with these questions in her mind, she eventually came to the conclusion that the moon was her guardian and had marked her as such. From then on, she spent as much of her time as she could basking in the light of the moon and reading the stars that surrounded it. As a result, she became incredibly good at navigation and direction and was not at all afraid of the dark. Her siblings thought her a little odd, but they accepted her. She was closest to her older sister, Sahira, the only other sister among their siblings.

As she grew, her mother taught her all of the basic life skills, including how to fight and defend herself. With this also came stories from Colla's homeland, a place called Wild Equines. She told of the adventures she'd had there in the Outlands with a group called the Helkaer. About being stolen, becoming a beta, and getting into fights. Meteora grew ever curious listening to these stories and when she hit her third year, decided to venture away from her family and see Wild Equines for herself.

Her first journey to Wild Equines brought her to the Free land known as Femiet Beach. There, she meets a stallion named Croatoan.
