If you were to sum up Barley he would probably be best characterized as annoying, but nice. He's constantly sharing the most obnoxious jokes and dressing like he's destined for edginess, but on the other hand, after school on the days when he's not hanging out with his best friend vylet, he goes to the local elementary and helps out with their extracarriculars. He's definitely not a perfect person, but a side effect of his (often times alienating) outward behavior is the majority of his peers only take him in at face value, subsequently resulting in his unpopularity. Because of this Barley knows not to take others at face value, and tends to look deeper into their true character.
Barley is a white saberooth tiger with green accents. He's an edgy edgy boy, but its okay because his personality makes up for it. Often times he'll be seen wearing a black hoodie and/or baseball cap. (The majority of his art is anthro, but I would really appreciate it if you drew him feral!)
Barley is as previously stated, found widely annoying. While he makes every dumb joke under the sun, the other aspects of his character outweigh his initial frustrating tendencies. He's really thoughtful and good at reading people, which means he's also usually the one his friends go to for things. When he was really young his mother passed away, which weighs heavily on him because he can't remember her face anymore. These hardships heavily shaped his personality and are likely the reason for his fear of losing those around him, and his attentive nature.

Barley's early childhood is a blur for him, but he something from it he clearly remembers is his innocence and joy. He's not an only child though, because when he was three, just two years before she passed on, his mother had another child, a small baby girl.
In the years after he lost his mother, Barley's bond with his sister, Parsley, grew to new levels. While of course they were still siblings and fought like most others, their love for eachother was apparent in every say interactions.
While life is still hard for him, and he continues to struggle with the absence of an important person in his life, Barley is slowly learning how to move forward and live in the present instead of lingering in the past. He's still close to Parsley, but as they both grow up they are learning that they have to give eachother space to maintain their special connection as siblings.
Vylet is Barley's person. They've known eachother for as long as either can remember, and it shows in the way they interact. Despite that, they still are learning new things about eachother every day as they grow and develop alongside eachother. This friendship can only be is a lifelong one.
Apricot is a 4th grader who recently moved to Barley's area, and enrolled im the Elementary school he helps out at. It didn't take long for her to become Barley's favorite student, and Apricot's favorite teacher. Her sweet personality, southern accent, and dispotion eerily similar to his own made him feel like he had a duty to make sure she felt wanted, and didn't make the same mistakes he did.
Parsley is Barley's sister. While yes, they are siblings, (which does mean common sibling behavior is standard,) It's also worth saying that they love eachother fiercely, and even if silly little fights are frequent, they almost never go a day without interacting at least once.
- Barley is extremely claustrophobic
- He has a collection of houseplants all with different names and Personalities.
- Much to his dad and Parsley's dismay, his eating habits are unhealthy at best.
- He has seen The Breakfast Club 35 times and counting.
