The daughter of the royal family who used to live in the castle at the top of the hill. Althaea was the most beautiful princess in the country, and was courted by hundreds of nobles and royals from around the world. But she could not fall in love with any man who came for her hand. Constantly running away from the castle to avoid her cruel father who treated his children and wife no more than tools for his success, she eventually ran into a common man and, over time, the two fell in love.
Althaea never accepted her father's ruling methods, nor her status as royalty; all she wanted was to live a normal life. However, after finding about her love, she was restrained by her father. Her mother was killed in bed for "assassination from the rebellion", while her brothers were exiled from the country to make sure that no one could take over the throne from her father. The man Althaea fell in love with was the leader of the rebellion, who was executed in front of her eyes. These actions were to make Althaea suffer and the rebellion began to fall apart.
In grief, Althaea was shackled in a deep prison, which slowly flooded as the storm raged. She there died of drowning, but not without bringing her father down with her.
Ever since, Althaea had been lingering in the castle, silently watching over the country as a water fairy.
